Forever Blossoms for Paper Players #480

Hi Everyone.  Happy Sunday.

It's the fabulous Anne Marie's turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week – and this is her challenge:

The thing I realized when this challenge came up….. I don't use embossing very much!  So, it was wonderful to be have to get out of my comfort zone and bring out the embossing powder and heat gun.  The hardest part was deciding which stamp to use!  In the end I went with the Forever Blossoms set.  However, I needed a sketch… so I went across to Freshly Made and found this one:

I stamped, embossed and die-cut the flower.  I was going to leave it as it was, but for some unknown reason, I decided it really needed some color.  I didn't want to use my Copic markers as that would have covered the gold embossing, so I brought out the pencils instead.

For the little element on the side, I decided to add one of the little bees from the Botanical Prints set.  I popped the flower using some foam tape and laid it onto a die-cut rectangle.  I used a sentiment from Altenew Fresh Freesia and heat set that with gold embossing powder.

Here's my card:

Forever Blossoms (1 of 1)-3

I decided to add some enamel dots to the middle of the flowers in a co-ordinating color.  I hope you will join us and play along this week.  As usual, the design team have some fabulous inspiration for you:

On a personal note:

Another crazy week at work and that meant that I didn't get to do anything creative during the week.  Today, I did manage to make this card, but that was as much as I could get done.  I'm hoping to spend some time in my craft room tomorrow.  I do have a photo of Charlie to share with you….. He is so loving when he wakes up.  I'd be working and he was asleep on my guest chair.  I got onto a conference call and he heard my voice, woke up and came for a cuddle.  It was obviously time that I stopped and smelled the roses… or, in this case, cuddled the cat!

CHarlie (1 of 1)-6
Yep… that really is how he lies…… on his back, legs in the air and then he falls asleep!  It's pretty hard to type when he's in that position!!!

Mind you, he woke up when this guy landed on the screen on my office window and just hung out!

Woodpecker (1 of 1)

Woodie is Charlie's nemesis… for some reason he just doesn't like the woodpeckers!

I'll be back tomorrow with another card.  In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

Hugs

Jaydee

  1. Hey Jaydee – what a sweet card! Love the little bee tucked up on the branch! I used to have a kitty that slept like that – with me holding him like it was my job. Which it totally was! What a sweetie your Charlie is – give him a hug for me. And – those woodpeckers need to be watched at all times! They’re shifty! 😉

  2. Love the teal with the gold embossing, Jaydee, it looks so elegant! Charlie seems like such a lover, cuddly cats are the best!

  3. Love the richness of the teal and gold together and they really pop on the clean white background. The little bee is the perfect touch, too. I keep resisting that Product Medley but I have a feeling it won’t be for much longer. Look at your sweet Charlie! Such a handsome boy. I completely agree with you, sometimes you just have to stop what you are doing to cuddle the cat. They always seem to let you know when it’s time, too. Hugs!

  4. What a beautiful card! I just love the gold embossed blossoms! They are so pretty! Your cat is adorable!!! Thanks for joining us this week at Freshly Made Sketches!

  5. The embossing is so elegant – and beautiful with the greens and blues! Thank you for playing along with us at Freshly Made Sketches.

  6. Those gold embossed blossoms are so pretty Jaydee and the addition of the colour really makes them pop against the white base. Love the cute cat picture too!

  7. Jaydee, this is gorgeous! I love the teal and gold! This branch of blooms is so elegant! That little bee is just perfect, too! Such a fabulous card. Charlie looks very content! He is a pretty kitty! Have a great rest of the week! XX

  8. Gorgeous card! I love how you die cut flowers start at the base and go onto your stitched panel! Your little bee is the perfect touch!
