Season of Joy – Christmas in July – Again?

OK…OK…. I know!  But whilst I had the Stampin Up new Merry Moments paper in my hand – and the Christmas stamps, I was compelled to make the splitcoaststampers.com challenge number 237 a Christmas submission as well.  I admit it….. I'm in love with the Merry Moments paper, and this stamp from the Season of Joy set is one you will see a couple more cards from, including a cool pop-up.

SC237

I used Real Red card stock for the card and the Merry Moments paper for the elements.  I stamped the tree image on Shimmery White.  The tree was colored with Garden Green ink and the star is Crushed Curry.  I really love the fact that the Crushed Curry works so well with the Christmas theme.  It's a rich, very saturated color.  I used a strip of Real Red Ribbon to break up the stripes of the green.  I think it's a fabulous color combination and, once again, a card that our friends and family will see in their mail boxes around Christmas!  I matted the Shimmery White on Real Red card stock.  I promise that I'll change themes for the rest of the week!

Jaydee tip: When stamping with a solid image, use your sanding block (or sanding paper) to rub over the image a good few times.  This helps to prepare the stamp to accept ink.  I find the difference in before and after is quite amazing.  I stamp the image once after I have sanded a few times to see how it's doing and to see if there are any areas which aren't quite right, and sand again if need be.  Don't rub hard.. once again I use a light touch and a circular motion and go back and do it again if I need to.  It really helps to get a more even image.

Tomorrow I'm going to try out the new Mojo Monday challenge.  It's an interesting one because the main image is a large circle.  So, luckily, I have lots of playtime tomorrow.

On the personal front: I heard bad news from my best friend today.  20 years ago she went to the local animal shelter to adopt a kitten.  They found that they were drawn to a tiny little ball of fluff that had been either abused or hit by a moving object.  Neither the shelter, nor subsequent vets, could actually determine the true cause of her problems.  Her brain just didn't send the right signals to her little body and her co-ordination was none existent.  Nevertheless, my best friend and her hubby decided this tiny little tabby was what they wanted to take home.  She never really grew and was always absolutely tiny.  However, her disabilities never held her back and she was a feisty little thing.  She hung in there enjoying life as only she could.  For the last two years she fought a long, hard battle, and it meant my friend was getting up several times in the night to tend to the little thing's needs.  (Mind you… when you are going through menopause, getting up in the middle of the night becomes a matter of course!)  Today little Sacha couldn't fight any longer.  She had a fabulous life and one that only my friend could have provided for her.  Those of you who have visited my blog, may have realized I'm nuts about animals… so, today's entry is dedicated to little Sacha.

Wishing you an inkspirational day with lots of time with those you love.  As always, thank you for visiting and spending a little time in my area of the stamping blogosphere.  It's much appreciated!

Peace

Jaydee
