Cosmos Bunch for Atlantic Hearts Sketches #585

Happy Tuesday.

One of the things about working full time was that I really didn't get much time to indulge in my hobbies.  Now that I am retired, and on a temporary stay from travelling, I'm hoping to get the chance to rectify that problem!  I haven't had the time to play along with the Atlantic Hearts Sketches team for a long time, but I am hoping to change that.  I started with their sketch this week and it inspired me to ink up a set from Pinkfresh Studio called Cosmos Bunch.  Here's a sneak peek:

And here's the sketch from Atlantic Heart Sketches:

When I saw the sketch it looked like a slimline card to me and I thought that the Cosmos set would work really well for it.  Cosmos holds a very special place in my heart.  It used to grow as a wildflower all over the place when I lived in South Africa and when we had dinner parties at the time of the year that Cosmos was flowering, we would take a drive until we saw some at the side of the road and go pick a fresh bunch of it.  Seeing Cosmos still reminds me of those parties!

I stamped and colored the image with my Copic Markers.  I haven't used my markers in for ever… well a slight exaggeration – but its been a long time!  I colored the image and die cut it with the matching dies.  I also cut some silver leaves from some Alexandra Renke dies to add a little shimmer and shine.

Here's my card:

I know the team across at Atlantic Hearts would love it if you played along!

On a personal note:

Well, after over a decade crafting on a craft desk that we bought from Pottery Barn, I've decided it is time to make a change.  My new Ikea desk arrives today.  It's the same width but is much narrower than my current craft desk.  My current craft desk has cubbies and I find that I just don't use them anymore.  What I need is drawers.  The new desk from Ikea gives me plenty of those.  It's going to be interesting to see how I function with this new desk as I've become very accustomed to everything being where it is.  I've told Lou not to get rid of my old craft desk as I might change my mind – again!! Hopefully not as I really need the drawers.  I mean, when do crafters ever have enough drawers?!

I'll share some before and after photos next week.  In the meantime, I thought I'd share a photo of our new kitten Chilli.  He loves sitting on top of the climber – usually at the highest point.  I think he might grow into those ears sometime!

What a cutie!   I'll be back later in the week with another card.  In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

Hugs

  1. Your card is stunning! Those flowers are so pretty, but the silver accents really make it even more special! And THOSE EARS! I am fascinated by them, LOL! Anyway, thanks for playing along with our AHSC sketch this week! I hope you’re able to play along lots more!

  2. I always love your floral cards and how you color them. I didn’t realize how good it looks to leave white space instead of completely filling them in with color. I’ll have to start experimenting when I use my markers. Chilli is as adorable as ever, thanks for sharing photos of him…. and his ears!

  3. thanks, Joan 🙂 You know, it has taken me years to embrace the white space. It was only recently, when I was doing a lot of coloring on the sea days on my recent cruise, that I started to realize that I liked it and that it did give things more life. As for Chilli… those ears are being used by NASA to listen for ET’s return home 🙂
