Festive Foliage for Paper Players #716

Happy Sunday.

It's my turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and it's clean and simple week.  Oh… and this time I remembered that it was a clean and simple challenge!

It was the perfect excuse to ink up a gorgeous new set that I got from Pinkfresh Studio called Festive Foliage.  This set will make up a lot of my Christmas cards for this year.  I love the unique take on the tree.  Here's a sneak peek:

I went with a more muted red/green color scheme for my card.  Mind you, I think it could work with a very conventional color scheme, or out there color choices!

I inked the stamp with versamark and heat set some gold embossing powder.  I took the matching stencils and colored the image and used the matching dies to cut out the image.  I cut out two extras of the tree image from plain card stock to back my embossed image.  I wanted to lift it just a little off the card base.  I blended some waterfall ink onto the card base and then stamped and die-cut the sentiment.  I added some gold splatters to the base of the card and adhered the focal image.

Here's my full card:

Such a pretty tree.  I just love it.  I hope you will join us and play along with our challenge.   As always the design team have some fabulous inspiration for you:

On a personal note:

Well, it started to feel a lot more like fall this week.  We had cold, wet, foggy weather but… wait…. it's just about winter!  The temps have been much more October-like than November like.  We are waiting to see just how much snow we do or don't get this winter.  Mind you, at least we don't have to shovel it – thanks to the HOA!

One thing about the colder weather…. it's helping Mr Chili grow his coat.  His tail is absolutely magnificent and his beautiful mane is starting to come in.  It's hard to believe that he's only 10 months old and has another 14 or so months to grow before he is called fully grown!

I captured this shot of him sitting on the cat tree in my craft room.  All the cats like to sit there and take turns.  He was looking especially regal 🙂

It's hard to believe that just 6 months ago… this is what he looked like:

He has more than tripled in weight since he arrived and now weighs around 15#!  He's almost twice the weight of Charlie and Smudgie.  So, when he wants the prime spot on the climber or on one of the window hammocks… guess who gets his way?  The others will put up a fight, but they know they are in a totally different weight class and just give up their warm spot!  He spends part of the night sleeping on the bed with us and we each know that it's him sleeping on the bed near our feet.  When he stretches out he forces me to hang my feet over the bed, or way onto Lou's side of the bed.  Oh…. and he is warm!  Which is great for Lou, but not for me.  I hate being hot in bed!

I did manage to spend some time in my new craft room this week and worked on finishing two virtual classes I attended with Pinkfresh Studio.  I didn't manage to photograph any of the cards before it got too dark tonight, but will do that tomorrow and share them with you during the week.  In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

Hugs

Jaydee

  1. I’d really like to rename CAS as something else because a really great CAS card like this is really anything BUT simple! So many details make this card look clean and crisp – the lifting of the tree (which is magnificent all by itself) and the ink blending behind it are just two things that really elevate this design. You are the queen of clean, Jaydee!

  2. Your card is so very elegant, Jaydee! The tree is magnificent with all the details and looks stunning gold heat embossed. I like the muted colors you used as well. Definitely a CAS beauty!

  3. Oh my gosh, Jaydee! This tree image is fabulous. It is a glorious focal point. The colors are so soft and lovely. The gold embossing adds the perfect touch of elegant. It’s a stunning card! Thank you for such a fun challenge this week!

  4. Jaydee, what a fantastic challenge this week. SO many amazing entries! I love your gorgeous tree and the gold embossing is so elegant! The colors are so soft and pretty! You make CAS look easy! Yes, I think Mr Chilli is all ready for a long, relaxing winter. Have a great weekend!
