Happy 4th July!
I got to play with some challenges today and saw a sketch across at Freshlymade. However, it was only when I came to write up my blog post that I realized I had put the sentiment in the wrong place. For some reason I had pictured the sentiment in the middle instead of the element! Ooops…. But, I love this set too much to not share it with you, so my apologies to the FMS team for not getting the sentiment in the right place!
Last weekend I attended a virtual Hot Foil and Betterpress event put on by Pinkfresh Studios. I have the hot foil and betterpress equipment but got frustrated with the hot foiling, so I put the darned thing away in a drawer and forgot about it. So, the class was just perfect to force me to get the equipment out and learn something new. the PFS team also provided us with some wonderful new goodies to practice on during the event and this Honeysuckle hot foil plate, stencil and die-cut were amongst my favorite items.
Here's a sneak peek:
Here's the FMS sketch:
Next time I'm going to take a photo of the sketch instead of trying to remember it! So, as it doesn't fit…. I won't submit this for the challenge, but at least you can see where the inspiration came from!
The Hot Foiling shows up much better in real life and creates such a lovely soft outline. I used the matching stencils to color the images and then die-cut them with the matching die. I added some blue to the base of the card to provide a shadow for the honeysuckle and then added some gold watercolor splatters for a little extra texture. The sentiment was included in the kit we got from PFS.
I really did learn some tricks and tips from the instructors on the class and it encouraged me to get out my equipment and try this card today! So, I think you might be seeing more of the hot foil and betterpress techniques on my blog in the future!
I hope you all have a wonderful day and were able to celebrate the 4th your way. I'll be back tomorrow with another card. In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.
Hugs
Jaydee
