Joy of the Season for Festive Friday #173

Happy Friday.

It's another INSPO list challenge across at Festive Friday this week and we are celebrating the 12 days of Christmas.  Now, without going into too much detail, this specific theme has a lot of fun memories for me.  Spanning back nearly 15 years and a wonderful New Year's Eve party at the home of my besties P & J.  What a great evening that was.  So, I decided to go way outside of my comfort zone and make a pretty complicated fold card based on one made by the amazing Jennifer McGuire for the latest Pinkfresh Studio Create and Connect Holiday virtual event.  I used a set that we got as part of that event called Joy of the Season.

Here's a sneak peek:

And here is our INSPO list for this week.  As a reminder, you don't have to follow our theme.  You just need to include at least 3 items from the list into your project.

Following Jennifer's instructions from the class, I stamped, stenciled and die-cut the elements.  I had to do that twice as I needed to create the floral/ornament arrangement for both the smaller, inside note card and the larger outside folds.  I used very unusual colors for me – pinks and blues.  Generally I am a traditional Christmas colors person, but the colors we used in class included a lot of pinks, blues and peaches and I really loved how fresh they felt.  So, that's what I went with for my card.

Once I had all the pieces assembled I added them to the fancy fold – including the die-cut frame that was cut from glitter card stock.    Also, instead of using silver embossing powder for the card I used silver hot foil.  I must admit I used to have difficulty understanding why anyone would want to foil when you can just use embossing powder.  However, after the Pinkfresh class, I realized just how gorgeous the hot foiled images are!

Once the card was ready, I needed to create a belly band to hold the card together and stamped another sentiment and added that to the smaller of the die-cut frames.

Here's the outside of the card:

The outside gives an indication of what is on the inside, but the inside is so much prettier.  Here's the inside:

I apologize for the photo.  The weather was very dull and it was dark and snowy and I just couldn't get a decent shot at all.  The colors are actually a little softer and more muted than they appear in the photo.  I hope you can see how beautiful the silver foiling is though and the shimmer and shine from the glitter card stock frame.

Here's another shot that I took.  It's here that you can really see the shimmer and shine from the hot foiling.  And, how much prettier the colors really are.

  1. Lovely card, but it sure is different than your usual CAS style! 🙂 Merry Christmas to you and Lou. I don’t have your address anymore, but am thinking of you. Hugs.
