Hi Everyone
Happy Wednesday!
The card for today is from the Stampin Up Kind and Caring Thoughts Level 3 Hostess set. I absolutely love the versatility of this set. I was sold the minute I saw the Ginko leaf. 🙂 I made this card for a friend who is on extended sick leave. She's a fabulous lady and I wanted to let her know that I really was thinking about her.
The matting is done in Rich Razzleberry and Melon Mambo (115315 in colors pack). I tore the right hand side of the Rich Razzleberry and Melon Mambo matts to add a little texture and relieve the formality of the card just a tad. If you look closely you will notice that the Thinking of You sentiment has a scored line above and below it, to provide a subtle highlight. (The versatile sentiments in this set have become favorites in my collection.)
I used an Old Olive marker for the stem and used the Melon Mambo pad for the flower. To add another layer of dimension, I stamped the flower again, cut it out using my snips and then curled the edges just fractionally and then placed it over the original stamped image with a Stampin' Dimensional. When I tied the ribbon this time, I decided to have the polka dot not appear on the bow. (I love playing around with the polka dot ribbon – the fact that you can reverse it, have the dots, not have the dots, have a mixture of plain and dots….. really appeals to me. Yes, I do get excited about simple things in life 🙂
Jaydee tip: I stamped the flower onto Naturals White (102316) paper. I love using this paper when I have cards with multiple colors because of the little flecks of color and the organic feel of the paper. Also because it isn't a bright white, I find that it it blends in well but still keeps the white tones.
On the personal front… the weather was much more humid today, but still a gorgeous summer day! I woke up this morning to find that my Norwegian Forest Cat had decided that he really needed to kill my headset. Now, considering I spend a tremendous amount of my day on the phone on conference calls… this was more than a little inconvenient. I tried putting it back together with duct tape…. but I finally found something duct tape couldn't fix 🙂 So I ended up with my phone on speaker and found myself screaming into the phone all day! Which was OK… except my 14 year old cat decided he didn't want anyone else in his space and decided to hiss and growl at anyone who looked at him. Which would have been fine, it he hadn't been sitting at my feet. I think the person on the other end of the phone must have thought I was torturing the poor cat:-)
Wishing you an inkspirational day tomorrow. Happy stampin' and as always, thanks for stopping by to my little corner of the stamping blogosphere!
Jaydee
