Happy Sunday.
It's my turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and it's color week. I had fun playing with a slightly muted version of the colors and created an I miss you card. I used a set of dies from Alexandra Renka called London Mini's and it highlights all the iconic images that the name London conjours up.
Here's a sneak peek:
I mean, what says England more than a red telephone box and a teapot!!!
Here's our challenge for this week:
I die cut the individual pieces from watercolor paper and added some watercolor to them. I used a background stamp from the SU Notes of Nature stamp set to add some texture and also to anchor the individual items.
I popped them up using very small pieces of foam tape and added a sentiment. Here's my card:
I really do wish I had straightened the photo – and taken it at an earlier time in the day! I was going to rephotograph it, but I can't find it!!!! Anyway, you get the idea:-)
As always the design team have some fabulous inspiration for you:
On a personal note:
Well, the weather still can't make up it's mind whether its summer here. We have continued to have the most amazing rain storms and we were told it might reach 90 today. It might do that at around 7pm and we've also been told we might get some humidity. It really has been a much colder and wetter beginning to summer than usual. I'm not complaining, especially when you look at what is happening in other places!
I've had the chance to play in my craft room this week, which has been great. I'm hoping to get some more crafting in today and also work on my coloring. I keep promising to practice my watercoloring, but that isn't quite going the way I had hoped, so I keep putting off doing any practice! I really did work on my coloring when I was on my cruise and wanted to show you this project I worked on. I just loved working on these moths.
Not the best photo – I seem to be having problems with that today! It took me hours to finish this, but I really enjoyed the autumnal colors and the various shapes. Some of these required REALLY sharp pencils! I do find coloring like this to be intensely therapeutic and the thing about sea days is that you have plenty of time to just sit and do something like this as I am not expected to do any chores, housework, cooking or anything 🙂
Little Chilli continues to grow and flex his independence. He comes for cuddles and snuggles when he feels like it (yeah… he's a cat) and is exerting his power over the others in the household, or at least he thinks he is.
He loves sitting in the soft cubby on the climber
And, because he's still teething, he loves to nibble on things.
On that note… I will be back later in the week with some cards. In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.
Hugs
Jaydee

What a lovely card! The iconic travel images are great and the way you’ve toned down the colours by watercolouring fits the slightly sad, ‘missing you’ mood. What I really like is that distressed grid in the background that quietly holds it all together. Your watercoloured moths look amazing!
Jaydee, your CAS card with London iconic images is so pretty, with the loose watercoloring evoking the atmosphere of a foyy, cool day. I especially love the little double decker bus!
And then on to your amazing coloring of the two moths. Wow! To get all those details and beautiful coverage indeed must have taken hours and hours. But oh, how worth it, they are so beautiful.
And finally onto Chilli…these sweet pictures of him may eventually cause me to break down and bring home another cat; it’s been years. He’s the cutest!
Foggy, not whatever word I typed before ha ha!
This is such a sweet card and definitely an England vibe. Your kitty is just so cute, I love the tuft on the ears.
Jaydee… loved this card when I saw in the prep gallery. So clean and simple. I love simple watercoloring…such a great look!
Thanks, Elizabeth. I guess it’s no surprise why I love this little set, but I really wasn’t quite sure how to use them as I am not used to playing with such small dies!

Thanks, Cynthia. Chilli’s tufts are amazing, aren’t they! I swear he will grow into those ears some day!

Thanks, Stef. I think most Brits add a couple of “f” words when it’s so foggy 🙂

Thanks, Jan. I also thought the muted colors fit with the sentiment!

Jaydee these colours are perfect for your London icons! There are currently a set of sculptures in the city featuring the same things (and a taxi, crown, etc) – so fun! Love the soft watercolouring – the muted tones are ideal for a miss you card. Love it!
Thanks, Joanne. I need to check out the sculpture!

Not sure if my comment went through – so if you get 2 from me just delete one.
Loved your color combo (one of my personal favorites).
Love your card and how you muted the colors. Those dies do remind me of London even though I’ve never been there.
Your kitty is so adorable and the coloring on those moths was gorgeous.
Oh, what fun, Jaydee! I love the iconic London images. Anchoring them with the grid image was a great idea. The moths are absolutely stunning. They must have taken hours to complete. And Chilli is stunning, too! I love the ear tufts.
