Polar Christmas for Freshly Made Sketches #671

Happy Thursday.

I can't believe that I am making "cool" cards and it's 50 degrees outside – in Minnesota – in JANUARY!!!  However, this fun sketch across at Freshly Made Sketches had me thinking about a set I got as part of the Pinkfresh Studio holiday card class last year.  As soon as I saw the sketch I had this idea in my head about sledding penguins!

Here's a sneak peek:

And here's the sketch from Freshly Made:

I pulled out the hills and snowbanks dies from Photoplay – again! I used them to create the horizontal elements from the sketch – and they also served as a place to put my penguins and their igloo.  I colored the elements with my Copic markers and then fussy cut around them.  I wanted the horizontal layers to stand out a little more so I used my Copics to give a little highlight on each one and tucked and secured the elements.  I added a sentiment from the SSS Get Yeti stamp set and the card was complete.

Here's my card:

Such a fun sketch and I had great fun creating this card to be sent off to our local women's shelter.  I know the FMS team would love it if you played along with their sketch.

As for me… playing with the penguin stamps reminded me of our trip to Antarctica and I couldn't leave this post without sharing a couple of photos!

Ah, that was such a wonderful trip.  So thanks to the team at FMS for inspiring me to get out the penguin stamps – and revisit our Antarctica trip!

I'll be back later in the week with another card

In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

Hugs

Jaydee
