Happy Sunday.
It’s the fabulous Antipodean Jan’s turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and she has a great sketch for us. I thought long and hard about what to use for my card and in the end went with a die that has been in my pile since the Black Friday sale waiting to be used. I love the Spellbinders Dancin’ sets, they make for fun interactive cards. This silly Moose is actually much taller than he looks on my card, I just moved his legs up so that he would fit into the sketch!
Here’s a sneak peek:

Seriously, how cute is his little jumper with it’s tropical theme! Thanks to the Beach Boardwalk paper from SU!
Here’s Jan’s sketch:

I began my card by creating the background. I used another Black Friday purchase a 3D embossing folder from Spellbinders called Ski Lodge. I then die-cut all the individual pieces for Klondike and adhered them together.
I added a round 3D foam dot behind his legs and added the body. That way the legs move from side to side to create the interactive element. I added another piece of the Beach Boardwalk patterned paper and added my sentiment.
Gah. It was ony when I went to write up my post that I realized the sentiment was supposed to go across the vertical element! The sentiment is from a Waffleflower set called Cozy Holiday Sentiments. I thought the Warm Wishes was perfect with his beacy jumper!
Here’s my full card:

Seriously, how cute is that!!! I hope that you will join us this week, we would love to see what YOU create. As always the design team have some fabulous inspiration for you:
On a personal note:
Well, we finally get to do an upgrade in the house that we have been waiting to do for over a year. The contractor starts on March 2nd and we cannot wait to see the finish product. Our home is double story and the stairs going up have a pony wall that extends into the loft area. We’ve always disliked the pony walls as they feel so overbearing when you stand by them or walk past them. The stairs are also carpeted and the cats love running up and down the stairs and then scratching the edge of the stairs with their claws.
The contractor will be removing the walls and creating a aluminium and wood railing system that will make the area less imposing, bring in more light from the transom windows in the loft, and also look much more modern. The carpeted stairs are being replaced with real wood treads and painted risers. Again making the whole staircase feel much more modern.
What we aren’t looking forward to is the dust storm that will be created with the breakdown of the existing walls and the patching that has to be done to some of the areas on the sheetrock. So, lots of plastic covering doorways and furniture is in our future! I’ll share before and after pics as soon as it is complete.
It means taking down the last of the winter decorations, too. I am going to miss the gorgeous gingerbread men I got this year. Mind you, I did break down and buy the rabbit cookie cutters for Easter 🙂

One of the other things that will be changing is the mantlepiece. The black mantle has always bothered me. It is being replaced by a real wood one that is designed to match the stairs and the floors. It will look much warmer and will not have the supports. So, I look forward to decorating that for Easter!
Chilli loves the fireplace. You wouldn’t believe that the bed he is lying on is a large dog bed. It is 27″ deep and 36″ long and this thing fills it!!! As you can see from the photo below, he isn’t even stretched out. When he does his front and back legs hang over the edge! It’s hard to believe that he weighs near 23#! When he wants to see what is going on on top of the kitchen counter, he stands on his back legs, raises his front legs and just looks over the countertop!

How is that for living in luxury?! I’ll be back later in the week with another card. In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.
Card recipe:
- Dies: Dancin’ Moose Klondike – Spellbinders. Frame: Textured Notes – Stampin’ Up!
- DSP: Beach Boardwalk – Stampin’ Up!
- Embossing Folder: Ski Lodge – Spellbinders

Jaydee, this card just made me SMILE! I love your “tall” moose in his tropical shirt. When I saw the shirt I LOL! The embossed background is the perfect setting for this happy fellow! You rocked this challenge! I can not wait to see your house remodel. Your home is gorgeous! Spring is coming, My Friend!
Well, this little (or maybe I should say big) moose is very handsome in his Hawaiian shirt! What a fun card, especially since it is interactive. The background is perfect for him too! Great creation!
I love the Dancin’…… They are so fun and adorable for any grands or great grands (not that I have those yet). He looks awesome in his beach sweater, hoping for warmer weather soon.
As for your house, WOW! It looks like it’s right out of a magazine. Your decorations are beautiful, and I can’t wait to see your changes. The pony wall is something that I’m not very fond of either, but your choice of stair treads is SpOt On, imho! While the plastic curtains aren’t very fun, it does handle the dust pretty surprisingly well, at least that was our experience. Good luck, and enjoy your wonderful space as it transforms
Love your moose! “Moooose” is a greeting in my family as we all love them and I use them on my cards often. Oh, your kitty is so beutiful as is your home. Hugs to you.
Jaydee I just love that long-legged moose in his tropical jumper – so fun! A beautiful embossed background too. And can we just talk about the pink? This is most definitely a colour that has crept into your cardmaking by stealth lol! Good luck with the renovations – they sound like the end result will make all of the disruption worth it, can’t wait to see the photos.
I loved this the moment I saw it! The moose is fabulous and I love that his jersey has palm trees on it, even though everything else is so wintery. And I I think I like being ‘Antipodean Jan’! It has quite a ring to it. What great Christmas cards this moose would make too. Thanks for giving me a great big smile. 🙂
I just love your adorable moose, Jaydee! He reminds me of the Rodney the Reindeer decorations my mom used to have for Christmas…I don’t think she has hers anymore, but two years ago she tracked down a Rodney stuffie and sent him to me for Christmas. Last weekend we visited Crested Butte and I saw three or four ladies wearing these long furry coats (not real fur) that were the same color pink as Klondike’s cute sweater! Love the textured background on your card too, and that moose is just so stinkin’ cute.
Jaydee, Klondike is so darn cute, especially adorned with the tropical design on his sweater! The embossed background is perfect too. Love that photo of Chilli lounging in front of the fireplace. He truly is a magnificent cat!
Cute is right, Jaydee! This card just can’t get any cuter. I think Klondike is adorable decked out in his tropical sweater. What a heart-stealer! I LOVE this embossing folder. What fabulous texture! The handsome Chilli looks cozy and comfy in his dog bed. In front of the fire is the Boxers favorite place at our house. Have a wonderful weekend!
