Happy Wednesday.
I hope you are all having a great week. Today was the first time that we have seen sun in a while and the temps got to 40 degrees! So it was the perfect day to open up the sun room and let the furry things go play and lounge around in the sun! As for me, I decided to spend some time in my craft room instead 🙂
I went looking for some challenges to play along with and found a great them across at AAA Birthday where the theme is winter birthday. I decided to bring out my Spellbinders Olive Marini and Christmas Cocktail dies.
Here’s a sneak peek:

I decided to make a winter themed cocktail card using muted shades of red and green instead of the more traditional Christmas colors. So I decided shades of pink and chartreuse would work well with the addition of some shimmer and shine from some silver glitter cardstock!
Here’s the badge for the challenge:

I went with a mini slimline card instead of the normal A2 as I wanted the slanted cocktail glass to be the highlight of the card and the longer, thinner shape worked well.
I die-cut the glass with silver glitter cardstock and backed it with 3 others cut from white cardstock. I adhered them together.
For the pink cocktail, I used a piece of thick vellum and colored it with metallic watercolor paints. I wanted the streaky appearance and you get that from vellum. I die-cut the other elements, the lounging gingerbread person, the pink/white sweets, the pine needles and the bow and added a little shading to some of them.
I then die-cut a piece of cardstock and used it as a stencil for the background. I splattered some silver metallic paint on the card base and then added my elements.
The sentiment was cut from a set called Mini Messages and More from My Favorite Things. Here’s my full card:

Perfect for a winter birthday card for a someone who loves pink and cocktails 🙂
I’ll be back tomorrow with another card and an exciting announcement – well, exciting for me that is :-). In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.
Card recipe:
- Dies: Olive Martini’s – Spellbinders. Christmas Cocktails – Spellbinders
- Sentiment: Mini Messages & More – My Favorite Things

Wonderful card! I love the winter cocktail idea and the gingerman floating in his cocktail is so adorable. Enjoy that sun — if you’re anywhere like us, we get socked in a lot by low clouds or fog from the warmer rivers and don’t see a lot of sun in the winter.
Cocktail magic and as you say perfect for someone who loves them. Thanks for playing at AAA Birthday, hope to see you join in with future challenges too. Stay safe and keep crafting!
Fun card exclamation point your little gingerbread man hanging inside the glass is adorable. Thanks for joining in at AAA birthday.
Your winter martini, complete with a little gingerbread, is wonderful! Thank you for joining us at AAA Birthday Challenge.
