Spellbinders Olive Martinis for Time Out Challenge #306

Happy Thursday.

Well, I am playing along with another Time Out Challenge. Still so excited to be a part of this talented team!

For our challenge we are grateful to Lawn Fawn designs for offering a $25.00 store credit to the winner of our challenge. I was lucky enough to be a recipient of the Lawn Fawn sponsorship prize last year and there were so many wonderful things in the shop to choose from!

Our challenge this week is a pick 2 and there are lots of wonderful things to choose from. I chose pink and sparkle and added aperture! Now, pink and sparkle are not things I generally go for, but I decided a pink martini would be a good idea. Not that I had ever seen a pink martini, so I had to go looking for inspiration!

Talking about winners, our guest designer for this week is the talented Jenn Borjeson of StampinAngelJenn, I hope you will pop along and give Jenn some blog love.

Here’s a sneak peek of my card:

Those of you who have been following me for a long time will know that pink is not my color! Well, I decided to kick that reservation to the curb and go all out pink! Here’s our challenge badge:

I die-cut the martini glass and the bow out of some glitter cardstock. I mounted 3 blank white die-cuts behind it to give it a little lift. I die cut the martini portion from white cardstock and blended 3 different colors of pink and then added some Tim Holtz Rock Candy clear glitter to the top layer of the martini. Personally, I had never seen a pink martini, so I had to go looking for some inspiration!

I then die-cut the olives from Eggplant and Olive cardstock and added them to my glittery cocktail stick. Now, when I was young, way back in the day, glittery cocktail sticks were the height of fashion for cocktails, so I decided to embrace that memory!

I then die-cut the lemon slice from citron cardstock and added two glittery layers for the skin. I know the glittery areas are pretty hard to see, but I promise you they really do shimmer and shine.

I added the same 3 colors of pink blended on the background layer. I then took a stencil from Spellbinders called Star Bright and added some stars to the base layer using the same darker pink ink. I wanted them to be there, but in the background.

Lastly I added a sentiment from an old My Favorite Things set called Mini Messages and More, adhered the focal image and the card was complete.

I hope that you will play along with our challenge. We would love to see what 2 things YOU pick for your creations. Check out the fabulous inspiration from our very talented design team, too.

Don’t forget, there is a $25 dollar store credit from Lawn Fawn for our winner.

I’ll be back tomorrow with another card. In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

Card recipe:

  • Dies: Olive Martinis – Spellbinders
  • Sentiment: Mini Messages and More – My Favorite Things

Hugs

  1. Wonderful celebratory card, I love the subtle pink stars. Looks like a fun evening, tho I’ve never actually had a martini – lol

  2. Such a beautiful card Jaydee! I love the soft background you created for the elegant martini! So very pretty in pink!!! 🙂 A great take on the challenge! I hope you have a good day! 🙂

  3. You and I were thinking along the same lines, Jaydee. I have had this Martini set for a long time and never broke it out, but it was the first thing I thought of for this challenge. I just love those subtle stare behind that glorious cocktail, and I love the white glitter paper. Every detail is wonderful. Such a wonderful make for our Pick 2!

  4. I love all the fun details on your card, Jaydee, like the lemon twist, olive stirrer and beautiful bow. The soft stars in the background gave a great place to set your glass down.

  5. The glittery class and bow got me…what a gorgeous touch! Your subtle patterned background is SO pretty too. I love the shimmery drink and the pretty olives a lot. What an all around beauty! Love it!
