Spellbinders Pasta Friends for AAA Cards Challenge #302

Happy Wednesday. Hope you are all having a fabulous day!

I have a quick card for you today that I made for the “follow my lead” challenge across at AAA Cards. I loved the idea of creating a take on Karen’s fabulous CAS card. I wanted to keep a food theme and realized that my new Spellbinders Pasta Friends dies would work perfectly. Being married to an Italian, you can imagine that pasta is popular in our house 🙂

I love the little faces on these bowtie pasta! I could have colored the back red to emulate a red pasta sauce, but I decided I wanted a cheesy sauce instead 🙂

Here’s Karen’s original card that we have to use as our inspiration:

For my card I kept it pretty clean and simple. I began by adding some color to my card base and blended it stronger in the middle and fading out to the edges.

I then die-cut the individual pieces for my pasta and decided to focus on the farfalle pasta. I die-cut those with a very pale yellow cardstock I had in my stash. I added some shading to the outer edges with sunshine ink from Pinkfresh and added a sentiment from the Pasta Friends sentiment set. I love me a good punny sentiment and this set is full of them 🙂

I die-cut the legs and arms of the pasta in black cardstock and added three other elements. A cloche die-cut from silver metallic cardstock, a basil leaf that I colored using my Copic markers and, lastly, a toque blanche that was cut from white cardstock. I mean… I just couldn’t resist the thought of a piece of pasta running around the kitchen with a cloche and a white hat!

I adhered the arms, legs, cloche, etc to my little farfalle characters and then adhered those to my card base using pop up foam.

I made this card for a friend who is battling cancer and is fighting like a champ. I thought she would appreciate this punny card 🙂
