Sweet Bouquet for Addicted to CAS #242

Happy Saturday.

We have another challenge at Addicted to CAS, and I was inspired to ink up a new set from Altenew called Sweet Bouquet.  I was lucky enough to get this set as part of a surprise pack that was at a very discounted price.  This is a set that will be a keeper for a long time, I think!  For today’s card, I decided it was time to put on my big girl panties and take another stab at water coloring!

Pretty pink and pastels?  OK…. where did the real Jaydee go, and will the aliens bring her back 🙂

Here’s our challenge word for this week:

When I originally read “wish” I was tempted to use candles on a card, but I really had an itch to use some watercolors on this stamp, so it was an itch I had to scratch:-). Watercoloring is tough for me as I always want to control every bit of ink and water.  That over-control and overworking of ink really does detract from the things I love about watercolor, so I tried to resist the urge to over-control it.  I think I was partly successful, but I have a very long way to go.

I stamped the image onto cold-pressed watercolor paper and colored the image.  I waited for it to dry and then fussy cut around the flowers.  I chose to feature them on a pale grey background and used one of a three-stencil set from The Greetery to anchor the image.  It’s one of the stencils from the Wicker Basket stencil set.  I loved the rectangles and thought they played well with the whimsical feel of the flowers.  For some reason, I cannot add an image to a card these days without doing something in the background to anchor the focal image.

Here’s my card:

I added the sentiment and a couple of clear embellishments to finish off the card.   I really like the pretty colors against the pale grey background, but, as expected, I overworked the ink on the leaves!  More practice is in order 🙂

I hope you will join us and play along with our challenge this week.  We would love to see what the “wish” word inspires you to create.  As always, the design team has some fabulous inspiration for you that you can check out on our AddictedtoCAS blog.

I’ll be back tomorrow with my Paper Players card.  In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

Hugs

Jaydee
