Waffle Flower Open Book Nativity Stencils for Paper Players Challenge #766

Happy Sunday.

It’s the fabulous Claire’s turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and it’s Tic-Tac-Toe week. Claire put together a very versatile board for us and I was inspired to bring out my Waffle Flower Open Book dies – again! This time I paired it with the Nativity Stencil set that was designed to work with the Open Book dies.

Here’s a sneek peak:

Here’s Claire’s TTT board:

For my card I went straight across the niddle: Christmas, stenciling and patterned paper. I found an old piece of gorgepous Navy and gold embossed paper that I had been hoarding from Stampin’ Up! I thought it would work really well with my nativity scene.

The first thing I did was stencil the images and then die-cut the images with my Open Book dies. I stenciled the outer cover of the book in grey and then used a color palette of blues, yellow and browns for the stencil image.

Once the image was die-cut I stamped the sentiment from the Open Book Holiday Sentiments and then popped up the image with foram tape to give a little dimension.

Here’s my card:

On a personal note:

Well, we finally got some snow. We thought we were going to end up with a green Thanksgiving, but we had about an inch of snow the day before. Yesterday we had another 7″, so it is beginning to look a lot like Christmas. Which is perfect as I start the change over from Fall decor to Winter decor today!

You can see how much we had when you look at the bird bath under the moon gate!

It sure looks pretty thought. Now all we need is some sunshine to brighten up the place! Charlie was sleeping in his hammock bed on my crafting desk and decided it was just too cold. So he nagged me to cover him up so that he could curl up and sleep in peace, and stay really warm!

Yeah, hard to tell there is a cat under that blanket – but I promise you there was!

Well, I don’t know about you but I did do some damage to my wallet with the crafty deals this week! I am currently waiting for goodies from The Greetery, Spellbinders, and Waffle Flower! I am not sure how this happened, but a couple of winter decor pieces might have ended up in my cart, too!

I’ll be back tomorrow with another card, in the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

Card recipe:

  • Dies: Open Book – Waffle Flower
  • Stencil: Nativity – Waffle Flower
  • Sentiment: Open Book Holliday – Waffle Flower

Hugs

  1. Wonderful card, Jaydee! I love the way you use those book dies, always so creative, and a great color combination too. And your kitty is super cute as always! We spent most of last week in Vail but there wasn’t much snow for everyone to go skiing. I didn’t mind, I stayed in our hotel suite and worked on a stitching project and made Thanksgiving dinner : ) We got home yesterday and it’s snowing now…and I had several packages to pick up when we got here, including some Spellbinders dies. Maybe I should wrap those up and put them under the tree…which hasn’t been put up yet!

  2. So beautiful! It seems there’s no occasion that your book dies can’t handle, and handle with great aplomb. 🙂
It’s lovely to see some snowy scenes. Summer has hit early this year and already we are on water restrictions and fire bans. The warmth was welcome after a rainy winter but now some cooler days would be nice. Never happy with the weather, are we?

  3. What a lovely little book scene….calm and peaceful. The navy and gold background is perfect! And how cool you got some snow—we actually had flurries today but nothing as pretty as yours! I feel like your kitty….cold and snuggled under my blankie!

  4. Beautiful card and scene, the Nativity is just the greatest in my opinion! I also love that you moved from Fall colors to Winter with snow — I’m a snow-loving gal but we don’t always get snow, nor much of it typically, so consider yourself blessed with that wonderful winterland.

  5. I absolutely love this card Jaydee! I was struggling to work out how to use stencilling with DSP – and you have nailed it! Those book stencils really are so versatile and your nativity looks lovely against the starry background. Such a beautiful card celebrating the meaning of Christmas. Can’t wait to see your new creations with your crafty Black Friday goodies!

  6. Beautiful, Jaydee! The book dies are among my among my favorite Waffle Flower dies. They have the neatest little stencils, too. The book looks fabulous with the starry patterned paper. I will say that Waffle Flower tempted me. There were some adorable Snow Pups calling my name. I know you will have a ton of fun with your Black Friday finds. Take care…and stay warm!

  7. The Open Book stenciling is simply gorgeous Jaydee, and the dsp you’ve kept all these years was absolute perfection! I hit WF pretty hard for those sales too, but I have to say I get overwhelmed with everyone’s offers and didn’t buy too much more (not that I “need” more lol!). Your snowy scene is gorgeous, and I think Charlie has the right idea in how to deal with cold winter days!
