Wrapped in Joy for Paper Players #717

Happy Sunday.

It's the fabulous Stef's turn to host our Paper Player challenge this week and she has a great sketch for us.  I wasn't quite sure what to do with this sketch and then I realized that I could create the kitty corner element with scored lines instead of DSP.  It was the idea of DSP that was throwing me.  So, I scored the corners with my stylus multiple times to add texture to my card.  I used a set that I wasn't sure about from the latest Pinkfresh Studio Create and Connect.

To be fair, I loved the sentiment, but it took me a little while to get to grips with the stamped elements.  But, once I did, I realized that they were really cute.

Generally Christmas cards for me are traditional colors – green and red.  However, the latest Create and Connect used very unusual color combos and I decided to embrace that and used…. shock and horror.

PINK!  Those of you who have followed me for a while will know that PINK is not normally part of my repertoire!  But, be prepared for a profusion of pink in this week's card.

Here's a sneak peek:

And here's Stef's sketch:

UGH…. and when I loaded the sketch to this blog post I realized that I had put the striped panel in the wrong place!  Sorry, Stef!

I used the Betterpress Plate to hot foil the wrapping elements and then used the stencils to color them.  Part of the sets that we received included this fabulous frame set called Intricate Tiles and frames.  I hot foiled the background and blended a little pink in the two corners that meet up with the scored lines.  '

I needed to get the element groing across the sketch.  I didn't want to use DSP as that would detract from the hot foiled elements, so used my score board and scoring tool to create the lines.  All of the elements were placed onto a piece of soft grey card stock

Here's my card:

As always, the design team have some fabulous inspiration for you:

I'll be back later in the week with some other cards that were made with the sets that we got with the Create and Connect event.  In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

Hugs

Jaydee

  1. My word, this is a beauty! I love your solution to the diagonal. I didn’t want to use DSP either because usually, DSP and me don’t get on too well. But since my mojo had taken a vacation, I didn’t think of an alternative – and certainly not one as elegant and gorgeous as this! That pink and soft grey combo is just so wonderful. The central lattice is a stunner too.

  2. Jaydee, your card is absolutely gorgeous in PINK! The foiled gift wrapping elements are so fun and the frame is really quite lovely; I imagine you’ll get plenty of use out of that. The scoring is a brilliant way to incorporate the background element and I wasn’t the least concerned about the direction lol! Love this to pieces!

  3. Oh I’m loving the scored lines for the diagonal element Jaydee and the hot foiling adds a real touch of elegance to this card. As of this moment though, I no longer believe that pink is not your thing – over the course of this year you have made some really beautiful pink cards!!!I love the subtle shading on this one – it adds so much dimension too. I think this is my favourite of your Christmas cards this year!

  4. Such a pretty card, Jaydee. Love the diagonal embossed lines. Subtle yet effective. Cheers, Jolanda

  5. This is beautiful, Jaydee! The scored lines were a wonderful idea. I love the soft pink hues. With the hot foiled background, the result is delicate and feminine. These are such fun images! What to rock Stef’s sketch!

  6. Jaydee, the scored diagonal is genius! This card is so fabulous! ALL that pink makes me smile. I have never foiled but, the results are amazing! If I received this card I would treasure it and keep it forever.
