It's the fabulous Laurie's (aka die-cut queen) turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and she has a clean and simple theme challenge for us:
So, I have to confess, I only have 1 Halloween set. It's an old Fun Stamper's Journey set and I love it! I pull it out at this time of the year – every year 🙂
I love this guy… I mean… take a look at these eyes!
You can see that I added a little glitter around the edges, and on his beak – and added some black enamel to his eyes. Oh yeah… and added a little red to the end of his beak.
The rest of the card is pretty clean and simple. I die cut a circle from some black cardstock and used a Neenah Solar White panel underneath that I colored with some distress inks to create a harvest moon. However, there wasn't quite enough orange in the yellow to make it successful as a Harvest Moon!
Here's my card:
Instead of black on some of his feathers I decided to go with a more purple hue and, of course, he had to have a candy pumpkin for his collection of chocolate covered mice and things 🙂

On a personal note:
I thought I would share a few more late summer/autumn flowers with you. The Asters were not my favorite flower… and I wasn't that thrilled when they were put in. However, when I read about them and found out how many insects they harboured – and how the bees loved them – I decided they could stay! if you look closely, you can see the bees busily drinking their nectar.
Now these guys are proliferating – and we are thrilled. They have such a gorgeous little flower – the hummer loves them – the butterflies need them – and then they produce this MASSIVE seed pod.

Aren't they gorgeous? They are just so bright and delicate – and then they produce those enourmous seedheads. I hope we have many more next year! And… if they continue bursting like this one did – we should have lots more!
And we have one Bee Balm that is still hanging on
And this one is just because, sometimes, in the midst of all the terrible things going on in the world, you just have to stop and stare and marvel at what wonders nature provides us when she isn't showing us her fury at what we are doing to her.

Hi Jaydee! Your card is fabulous! I love this stamped image, perfect for Halloween! The yellow circle behind him really looks like the moon, so clever.
Can I ask what the name of the second flower is? Looks like milkweed pods. I’d love to add that to my garden for the hummers and bees next year! Summer is still holding on however, we have chilly morning temps in the 40’s today only. Autumn is knocking on our doors! ; )

It really is beautiful – the orange flowers are just gorgeous. I hope you are able to get some and grow it where you are. If you need seeds, I should be able to get some locally and send them to you.

Hello Again,
We had a couple gorgeous yucca plants in our back yard for one season. Wish I could get them again. Our pool was full to overflowing the first winter from all our rains and I think the water killed the yuccas. They are so beautiful when in bloom throughout the desert.

The owl, with his stare and beak, is quite intimidating! He looks all the more striking against the black and I really like the way his circle is off the edge of the page. The photo of the sky is absolutely stunning and has me itching for my sponges – it’s a card in the making!
Eeeek! That is one scary owl! We have a lot of owls in my neck of the woods and they often fly low at night when they’re hunting. Spooky when they pass in front of your headlights! Great Halloween card, Jaydee ~ Hope you’re having a great week! Hugs, Annie
Oooooh, he’s spooky all right! His mesmerizing stare is spooky enough but your fabulous coloring really sets him off. I love the touch of whimsy in the pumpkin pail–so cute! Your garden pix are beautiful and that sunset is breathtaking!
