Very quick post for you tonight. I wanted to share a card I made for Cards for Hospitalized kids – and another little hint for the blog candy.
Let's start with the card.
One of the things I have really come to love is coloring with pencils. For years I have been working with Copics and, don't get me wrong, I love coloring with my Copics. However, I discovered a young lady down in Oz who runs some online coloring classes. I decided to bite the bullet and take her pencil coloring class. Boy, oh! boy. Did that change my coloring technique. She tells you that she isn't an artist. She didn't train at art school. She just slogged away at coloring hundreds and hundreds of images until she got it right and found a style that she could teach. Because of her class, I have spent time coloring – and loving to color – with my pencils. It's really about understanding the medium and I cannot thank her enough. I will never be as good as she is – number 1 because I don't have the patience to color so many images. However, I hope that my coloring on this card shows you what you can do with just a little extra effort – and understanding your medium.
Those of you who follow my blog know that I don't "do" gorjuss or sweet images. However, I found a couple of stamps at Stamping Bella that I thought some child in hospital might love and I had a ball coloring this image.
I'm particularly fond of how Bonnie's Bows came out. It's really hard to get the full detail of some of the nuances (sounds like an oxymoron to me!) of the coloring – but it really is pretty in real life.

When I look at it – there are things that I would do differently – but I sure had fun coloring it!

Oh Jaydee your coloring of this image is spectacular. I too am using colored pencils more and more. I wish I could take a class like that, up until now my teacher has been Youtube! So more than 50,000, huh? That’s amazing. I have no idea, but shot in the dark 67,423!

You’re absolutely right, some child is going to love that card. Beautiful coloring with the pencils. Would you share who you took the online classes from? As someone who cannot trace their family tree any further than my own parents I cannot fathom the amount of branches that must be involved in this woman’s tree. Enjoy your research!
Gorgeous coloring Jaydee! All the purple will brighten a child’s day big time!! I especially love how you colored her hair. I color when I can but that’s not much. Do you use the standard Prismacolor Premier pencils? When you look online, there are different types from this company. I use what I listed but I find I color with a heavy hand and I’m always blending. I haven’t tried the blending pencil, I just keep going over the image until I like it. I use a lot of pencil doing this and should check out an online class myself.
I can’t believe the number of families listed for your grandmother! I’ll try a new guess of 50,500. I’d say this is taking you many hours to search and find answers! Wishing you luck!

This card tempts me on pencil coloring . . . I admire your colored cards, but have never tried coloring . . .I might start coloring . . . 2 222 222.
