Garden Treasure

Hi Everyone.   Happy Monday

I have a card to share with you today using the Freshly Made Sketches sketch, the Color Throwdown colors and the theme from Less is More 🙂  It's not often I get to a three challenge combination.  Sadly.. I missed the submission for FMS.

Before I share the card and details with you – I wanted to say a huge thank you to the LIM challenge for showcasing this card.  I loved making the card and am grateful for their recognition 🙂

and

I used some of the flowers from the Altenew Garden Treasure stamp set for this card.   First, I had to deal with the circular element.    I used a stitched circle but for embossing the circle as opposed to cutting it out.   Once I had that, I stamped my main flower and leaves and fussy cut them.

I then had to deal with the "shadow" element from the LIM challenge.  I stamped some of the little buds into the circle and used some yellow ink and water to create some splatters.    All that was left to do was assemble my card and add a sentiment.

Here's a closeup of the background with the splatters and shadow elements – the flowers in the shadow of the main focal flower 🙂

Here's the finished card:

To add a finishing touch to the card, I took some Novo drops and added some white dots in the middle of the flower to add a little life.  Because I wanted the leaves and the sentiment to hang off of the card on either side, I had to reduce the size of the card down to 4".

I'll be back tomorrow with another card and some wildlife shots.  In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

Hugs

Jaydee

  1. This is a beautiful card with so many creative touches – I love how you have added texture with the embossed circle and Nuvo drops! That floral image is really gorgeous. Thank you for playing along with us at Less is More this week 🙂

  2. I love the way you embossed with the stitched shape. Will you please share how you did that technique? I would love to try that! Awesome card!!

  3. Hi Jeanie. Absolutely happy to share how it was done 🙂 Here’s the link to the video that Jennifer McGuire did sometime last year showing how she does it. It really is very simple. You use a die with your die-cutting machine and instead of using a cutting plate underneath, use your rubber mat and embossing plate instead. But check out the video as well.

  4. Hi Kay
it’s a really easy technique. All you need to do is replace the cutting plate with the rubber embossing pad and an embossing plate. The video link takes you to a video that Jennifer McGuire did on this technique sometime last year. That helps to demonstrate how to do it. Thanks for stopping by and asking the question. http://www.jennifermcguireink.com/2016/08/impress.html
