Hi Everyone. Happy Sunday.
It's the fabulous Sandy's turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and she has a sketch for us.
It's a very versatile sketch and you can go with so many different genre of card, but I decided to do a fairly clean and simple take on the sketch.
I began with a strip of SSS woodgrain cardstock and adhered that to my card base. I cut a stitched rectangle for the focal element and stamped the dots from the Dragonfly Dreams set in the top left and bottom right corners with a soft grey ink and adhered that to the woodgrain layer with a thin piece of fun foam.
I stamped the dragonfly and die cut it. I then die-cut the layered wings twice. Once in vellum and once with a mask. I wanted to add a little shading in the open spaces for a little more depth. Once I was done with that, I mounted the vellum wings over the die-cut and stamped wings. Here's a close-up and you can see the different shades of green and blue-green that I used.
You can also see that I adhered the vellum wings only over the wings and removed the piece that would have covered the body of the dragonfly. I popped up with the wings with a couple of double sided foam tape squares.
I stamped the sentiment and adhered that over the card base. Here's my finished card:

On a personal note:
Oh! The weather was glorious today. Mind you, it was very cool when we woke up – in fact there was frost all over the wetland. However, by lunchtime the temperature had risen and the cool wind abated. It was absolutely gorgeous.
The swallows decided to try out our boxes again today. Even though there are multiple boxes, they all fight over the same ones. Lou and I watched their aerial acrobatics for about 10 minutes, before I decided that maybe we should try repositioning one of the boxes to help end the squabble. It seemed to work for a little while and then…. poof…. they all left!
Not before I managed to take a couple of photos, though 🙂
Isn't he handsome? Not only is he a wonderful looking bird, but he waited patiently and posed for me whilst I tried to get him in focus 🙂

Oh this is lovely, Jaydee! You’ve captured the iridescence of a dragonfly perfectly with your careful attention to layers and shading. Love the soft grey stamping too. Elegant and serene–love it, my friend!

Jaydee this card has such great texture. I love the woodgrain background with the vellum and sparkle. Your swallow is pretty handsome too, funny how you had to separate your “kids” to keep them from fighting!

WOW! That dragonfly is absolutely gorgeous, Jaydee! The choice of papers make it feel light and airy.
Jaydee, I love the textures on this gorgeous card! The woodgrain background is perfect! The beautiful dragonfly is so lovely with the vellum and the sparkle! Wow Jaydee – that vibrant green Dragonfly really packs a punch, just beautiful. I love the subtle grey and lightly textured background too. Perfect in every way!
Oh and I forgot to comment on the bird – what a great photo! We have a blue tut nestibg in one of our camera boxes and it makes for captivating viewing!
