Hi Everyone.
It's not often I get to play along with two challenges – but the sketch at Freshly Made and the photo inspiration at Time Out really piqued my interest.
The sketch is a very unusual sketch and really made me think hard. When I saw the photo inspiration at Time Out, I realized that the two elements on the sketch would work beautifully with butterflies. The clock on the wall on the photo inspiration got me thinking about my clock stencil from Tim Holtz. Once those ideas came together – the rest was easy.
I used the clock stencil and some Novo mousse for the vertical stripe. I die-cut two butterflies in DSP (with little tulips on them) and adhered them to the card base. I popped up the wings of the butterfly with some foam tape and added a little glimmer pen to the flowers. Here's a close up
I love the soft, subtle shine from the Novo mousse. The only thing you have to be very careful of is ensuring that you wash your stencil the minute you have finished with the mousse, otherwise it's a little difficult to clean it. I made the mistake of washing it only after I had finished the card, and it took me a little while to remove it 🙂
For the sentiment, I used the Altenew Label Love Just For You sentiment. Here's my finished card:
On a personal note:
As the weather was so gorgeous this weekend, I managed to get out and capture a couple of photographs of our birds. These guys have spent the whole winter with us – and I loved the look on his face.
They are the sweetest little birds and spent winter roosting in our White Cedar's. The trees provide a wonderful windbreak and warm roosting place – safe from predators, too. If you want to know more about this little Song Sparrow you can check that out here
You can see that the wetland is starting to show a little green and, after the warmer weather this weekend, we even have buds on the trees!
I'll be back with another card tomorrow. In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.
Hugs
Jaydee

Beautiful card! I love the soft colors you used and that label-sentiment is fab, it adds a lot of “punch” (if that’s an expression!) to the soft elements of your card! Well done! Thanks for taking TIME OUT and joining us!
