As this was a theme challenge, I went looking for a sketch challenge that I might be able to play along with – combining two challenges isn't something I often get to do, however, I saw this great sketch across at

Before I share my card, I felt the need to do provide a little background. It's been a very tough few weeks at work as thousands of us have been told we need to move state or lose our jobs. As you can imagine, that has caused a tremendous amount of anxiety and anger amongst us.
One of my favorite colleagues of all times lives in Oregon – and loves it there. She is the quintessential Oregonian and really doesn't want to move to New York City (the location we have been assigned.) A week ago we decided to have a virtual drink. She got a glass of red wine, I got a glass of white wine and we sat on the phone for two hours and just talked. So, when I saw this My Favorite Things set – I realized it would make the perfect card to send to her. So, this is for the amazing Miss C.
I began with a stencil and some Heidi Swapp metallic paste – to create the background for my images. I then die cut two glasses and colored them with Copic markers and adhered them to the base. I stamped the sentiment and cut around it and adhered that over the popped up glasses. Here's my CAS card:
I then added a little something-something to the inside:

On a personal note:
So, needless to say I am NOT moving to New York City – especially as there is no salary increase involved with this move – and I would have to leave Lou here in Mn – as that is where his base is…… so, unless I can meet some gorgeous rich, handsome, very generous, amazing guy in the next 30 days… I am not giving up my current man to move to NYC. The company has offered me a generous…. amazingly generous severance pay of……. 30 days…. yep… 30 days severance after 30 years service. That's one day for every year I have worked there – really generous. I think that probably gives you some idea of why the fabulous Miss C and I spent a couple of hours talking on the phone over a glass of wine or two :- and I know she will really appreciate the sentiment of the card:-)
I did get to spend some time in my crafting space today and made 3 cards. It took me forever to make them as I was a little distracted – but it was really good to get my hands inky. It does mean that I will have a couple of cards to share with you this week, so I will be back on Tuesday with another card.
In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

So sorry to hear your tale of woe regarding your job (wondering what company this is to do that to long-time employees, or any for that matter).
I can totally support your wine-drinkin’ buddy phone call, it sounds like it was just what you needed to help.
Also I love your card (being a wine drinker myself) I especially admire the use of the metallic paste, I’ve not used that myself, guess I’ll have to try it, cause I really like the effect it brings.
Keep your chin up, it’s said “everything happens for a reason” (sometimes it’s just hard to figure out that reason at the time.

What a great sentiment and sounds perfect for your wine-drinking buddy! I love that metallic paste embossed background too – very eye-catching. My thoughts are with you and your many colleagues who are going through so much upheaval and change. Always unsettling, yet I’m sure after 30 years seems life-changing. I agree with Nance though; sometimes these things happen for a reason and whilst it might not seem like it right now, I am hopeful there are good things ahead for you. Hang on in there! I read in my devotional this morning that our praises are the bridges that will carry us into the land of promise. As hard as it may be, I truly believe praising God in the midst of storms brings blessings we never knew were possible. Praying all will be well for you very, very soon. Oh man, Jaydee! So, so sorry about your job. I know that companies don’t provide the kind of severance that they used to, but come on! One day per year! That is a low blow. I’m sure that all will work out as it’s supposed to though I’m sure it doesn’t feel like it to you at the moment. Especially after giving 30 years. I’ve been at my job for 26 and I know I’d be feeling pretty betrayed. I know all of your friends are sending positive vibes your way.

I’m so sorry about your job Jaydee! 30 years is a long time and it will be a big change for you to let this job go, I’m sure. It is kind of cute..although sad…the story of you and your friend having a virtual drink together!This card is PERFECT for her.

You are always so generous in your thoughts and prayers for others who “need a little lift”. Well now it’s your turn to receive ours, because your spirits justifiably need to be hauled up by a crane!I would have imagined that there would be some legislated entitlements that the company had to follow, but apparently not. So glad you do not have to leave your wetland though!! I’m sure you wouldn’t have nearly so many beautiful creatures around you in NY!!

so sorry to hear about the job loss, I agree, things happen for a reason.
The same thing happened to many of my co-workers. I am a nurse, worked in a Catholic hospital for 25 years, we were taken over by another hospital because!!!. The new employers did not honor or pensions, some of us had 35 years and were ready to retire anyway so they have nothing. Fortunately, I was one of many who accepted the first package for retirement a few years before the merger so I have my pension, We just received notice that the funds will run out in 10 years and there will be no more $$$$$$$$$$ available because of loopholes in the management of the funds.
Perhaps there is a dream job out there just waiting for you.
You made a good choice, things will get better.

Jaydee, I have had you and your co workers in my prayers. I can not imagine that they assume all of you can just pick up and move to NYC with no pay increases! That severance pay deal is pitiful. Oh Jaydee I am so sorry to hear about the turn of events at your job. I hope better things are just around the corner for you. Have been enjoying the warm temperatures that we have had. In fact, we had to break down and mow our yard Thursday. Nice to be able to work outside once again. Did have a cool front move in early hours yesterday morning so was quite the drop in temperature from the day before.
