Hi Everyone. Happy Friday.
I hope you have all had a great week. I'm sorry that I haven't posted this week, but I took Lou away for a surprise couple of days to celebrate our anniversary and I couldn't tell you all that we would be away – cos that would have spoiled the surprise for Lou :-) More about that later!
In the meantime, we did get back yesterday and that gave me some time to make a couple of cards this morning. I saw a great sketch across at Case This Sketch (but was too late to enter the challenge) and a fabulous color challenge from Color Throwdown:
I am obsessed with this color scheme and, when you see my card, you can see that I was influenced by more than just the colors! When I first looked at the colors they had a more masculine feel but, when I started to play with them, I realized I could me a fabulous feminine card out of them.
I began with a piece of Canson hot pressed water color paper and masked off the vertical element with painters tape. I then embossed a variety of leaves from the Fun Stamper's Journey Artsy Leaves set and heat set them. I spritzed with a little water and went to town with my zig clear brush markers – luckily I had colors that pretty much matched the colors on the challenge.
Once I had created my background and was happy with it, I stamped and cut three individual full leaves and watercolored those – one for each of the colors in the challenge. I adhered them to the base – along with my sentiment – and added some sequins and a little silver thread to finish off my card. This card will be going in the post tomorrow.
Here's my card:
Errr… think I was influenced by those leaves on the challenge badge? I couldn't believe it when I saw them as they were a great match for this stamp set? I love the soft colors together. I would never have put them together – but I will certainly use this color scheme again. That's the thing I love about doing challenge – you can discover all sorts of things:-)
On a personal note:
So…. as I said. Lou and I were celebrating our anniversary this week and so I decided that we needed a couple of days away and we went off to a place in the woods in Northern Wisconsin. Cellphone coverage was extremely spotty and wi-fi pretty much non-existent. We were forced to switch off and just relax and chill. I can't remember the last time that we have done that. It was a wonderful couple of days. When we left Minnesota it was freezing – we arrived in Wisconsin to find that our little cabin was a complete sun-trap. Away from prevailing winds and just the perfect spot to catch some rays. Here's the view from our cabin:
When we went to the lodge for dinner that night – the sunset was amazing. We were facing the wrong way to get the full effect of the sunset – but I noticed that the light from the sky was reflecting on the lake and all the trees and making the whole area look a pale shade of red wine!
This photo is completely untouched – I have done nothing to it. This really was the color of the trees and the lake – so you can imagine how intense the sky was:
You can see from the top photo that the trees across the lake are still pretty green and yet, in this photo, they look as though they have all turned. It really was gorgeous. I'll have a couple more photographs for you tomorrow.
I'll be back tomorrow with two different posts – one for my Addicted to CAS challenge card and one with my Just Us Girls challenge card. Two posts tomorrow to try to make up for missing some this week :-) In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.
Hugs
Jaydee

Such a pretty card, Jaydee. I love the layout and those leaves, and your card echoes the challenge badge perfectly.
First Off; Happy Belated Anniversary to you both.
That is so very pretty. Noticed, not only does it fit the bill on the sketch but goes perfectly right along with the photos you took on your little get-away. Lovely photos by the way.
