Pixie Dust for Paper Players #746

Happy Sunday.

It's the fabulous Ann's turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and it's color week.  Ann's fresh, bright, colors inspired me to use YET ANOTHER stamp set that I got from the Jennifer McGuire crafty box.  Yep, lot's more still to come from that bountiful box!  It's a set called Pixie Dust from Simon Says Stamp.  A set I would never have bought, but have managed to make multiple cards with it!!!  Here's a sneak peek for today:

And here's Ann's colors:

I decided to watercolor the floral image from the Pixie Dust set.  I heat set it with white embossing powder and then got out my watercolors and tried to match the SU colors as closely as I could.  Because I was using watercolors, I couldn't get the colors quite right, and the peacock is the same tone, but not as vivid.

Once I had watercolored the flower and it had dried, I die cut it with the matching dies.  I then used the same color inks to add them to the base of the card, but, again, didn't quite seem to be able to match the colors!   Once the background was complete, I popped up the flower on a die cut focal layer and added a sentiment.

Here's my card:

As always, the design team have some fabulous inspiration for you.

On a personal note:

Well, I spent the day organizing…. but this time it wasn't my craft room!   Lou's birthday is coming up and I bought him a fancy, schmantzy moveable, adjustable, 18 drawer Husky bench for the garage.  Oh boy!  So we were able to finally dig all the things out of the various boxes they have been stored in all over the garage/house and find homes for everything!   Gone are the days where a new screwdriver is purchased because he can't find the right one in the house.  Yeah, right, who am I kidding.  I mean… what man needs an excuse to visit the hardware store….. mmmmm….. pot calling kettle black here…. cos, I mean, whenever did I need an excuse to visit an online craft store :-).    Anyway, we are pretty much organized in the garage except Lou can't find anything… no comment…. so he has asked me to go label all the drawers.   Again, I mean, seriously!  When did I need an excuse to go and label ANYTHING!

We did have some visitors in the garden this week.  Mamma deer decided to park her twins for a couple of hours right outside our sunroom!  They sat there looking absolutely adorable for about 2.5 hours before Mamma made her way back, collected them and wandered off into the undergrowth.

Look at those little things!!!!!  Absolutely gorgeous.

Anyway, I will be back tomorrow with another card – if I can get finished labeling early enough :-).  In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

Hugs

Jaydee

  1. Absolutely beautiful, Jaydee! The soft watercoloring adds a dreamlike quality to your card. The background you created is gorgeous. Once again, so soft and dreamy. You took my color challenge to a whole new level. Thank you! Oh my gosh, your story about Lou really hit home. I bought Kim a fabulous storage system for his milliom and one tools…and actually organized them for him. Yep…he still can’t find what he needs, and sadly we live close to three hardware stores. His easy fix is to just buy a new one. Have a wonderful week!

  2. Jaydee… the deer are adorable! what a sweet surprise (until they are big enough to eat your landscaping). Love that you are labeling for your husband… I love to label (and reorganize) too! Re today’s card, I only wish I could watercolor as well as you…love the card! So love seeing what is in one of Jennifer’s crafty boxes. Is everything new that is included in it?

  3. Beautiful! I like how the watercolouring softens the colours and adds tonal variation. I like the way you’ve coloured the background too, even if you weren’t happy with the colour matching. It still looks great!

  4. I couldn’t wait to comment on this card—so very pretty! Your coloring is just delightful! And to be honest, my husband has sets of tools in each shed (2), the garage and his workshop downstairs. That’s a lot of tools! So be glad Lou’s are all confined to one “neat, tidy & labeled” space!!!

  5. You definitely scored with the JM box, Jaydee! This is such a sweet flower and your water coloring is gorgeous! The soft tones are so wonderful, it looks dreamy. I could identify with the husband/tool story. Kevin has a tool for everything but fortunately his thriftiness results in having them organized where he knows to find them, so he doesn’t have to buy new ones. The tool chest you bought for Lou is fantastic and I hope he enjoys it!
