Hi Everyone. Happy Wednesday. I am so close that we are half way through the work week and on count-down to the weekend! Oh…. and the temps reached the 30s here today! Double reason to celebrate.
I saw this great sketch across at As You See it this weekend:
I decided to take a literal slant on the sketch and began by stenciling in the leaves and then stamping two of the flowers from the Watercolor Friendly Flowers set onto cardstock. As the set is called Watercolor…. of course, I had to watercolor the flowers:-) This time I decided to use my Inktense Pencils. They produce such rich, intense colors and I thought were perfect to help them pop off the background.
For the middle of the flowers, I wanted a deep black color with some shine and used some Irresistible ink for the middle. Once the flowers and the ink were dry, I went around the flowers with the black copic marker to really outline the flowers.

I love the texture on the leaves. I mixed up some white embossing paste with some Wild Wasabi ink and used that with the Simon Says Stamp Stencil to create the leaves.
On a personal note:
I forgot to attach the photograph of the doves on the heated bird bath last night! If you look closely at the photo you can see how much ice has collected on the edge of the bath… but there was still enough space for the birds to get to the water. I really am amazed that it managed to still remain unfrozen considering the temps were minus 37!
Isn't he just a gorgeous color against the snowy background? The pinks and grey and blues really stand out against the neutral backdrop. I think I might have to paint him. Well, I would, if I could paint!
Thing the deer in our woodland were looking at something? There were 10 of them.. and they were all watching something across the wetland!

I love the watercolours. Given your talent with colours and stamping, I’m sure you could paint. I love the way you capture the magnificence of nature-your house placement must be quite fantastic! We have one of those birdbath a but weren’t sure it would work in Saskatchewan – you’ve convinced me to pull it out and try it!
I still think I have to learn how to color . . . the stamps acquire another dimension . . . combined with your art . . . beautiful!!
It must be great to go to one of your windows and be able to see God’s hands through Mother Nature.

Such a beautiful card. Love what you did with the leaves.
We have doves that hang around on the ground to catch the bird seed when the finches eat. They are so pretty.
Jaydee, the card is really cute and I love the shading on the flowers. I really liked your picture of the doves. The coloring is subdued, but so pretty. Take care,
