Winter Wonderland for As You See It

Hi Everyone.  Happy Tuesday.

I saw this great sketch across at As You See It this weekend and immediately knew what I wanted to do with the sketch.

When I saw the sketch, I had this image in my mind of a deer against a great sunset background – something clean and simple.

I began with a piece of cardstock and my distress inks.  I started with Victorian Velvet, add a little Lavender and then moved to Seedless Preserves, Chipped Sapphire and finished up with a little Black Soot at the top.  I then took my mini mister and added water and Perfect Pearls and spritzed a couple of times to give a little shimmery shine and water drops to emulate a starlit night.

I then inked the deer image up with Early Espresso ink and hand drew a line into a snowbank to mimic the curve on the sketch and fussy cut around the top of the deer.  I stamped the sentiment and then  added foam tape behind the deer portion and placed it over the distressed background.

All that was left was to add a single star sequin.

Here's my card:

As you see it (1 of 1)

I was really happy with how it turned out.  I have in mind to do a similar card but use the tree image behind the snowbank.  I will have to see how much play time I get tomorrow!

On a personal note:

I thought I would share a couple of nature shots with you tonight.   I love the Woodpeckers – they really are amazing characters  – and I watched these two go backwards and forwards chasing each other trying to get to the best piece of suet:

They get everywhere!  This little guy was sharing space with the goldfinch:

I think they are all getting ready for the snow that we MIGHT get sometime this weekend!  We missed the snowstorm that hit the mid-west last weekend and with temps still in the 40s for the last couple of days, I have been wondering if we are ever going to get any snow.  It seems to be very late this year.  Lou put up the external Christmas decorations this past weekend as he didn't want to try and do it this coming weekend if we do get snow.  Wise man 🙂

I'll be back tomorrow with another card.  In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

Hugs

Jaydee
