Partridge and Pears – Paper Players #217

Hi Everyone.  Happy Saturday.

It's the fabulous Ann's turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and she has a wonderful color challenge for us.

The minute I saw these colors I knew that I had to bring out my Partridge and Pears stamp set.  They just seemed perfect to use with that set 🙂

I started by stamping the tree image in black and then took my my markers and my blending pen.  I really LOVE coloring this image.  It is so incredibly relaxing it because you have to focus very hard to make sure you don't color outside the lines!  Consequently, my mind switches off all the chattering that normally goes on in there, and allows me to just be.  Just be alone with my image and my markers.  LOVE IT!

I made very sure to stick just with the three colors and black as my neutral.  As I didn't want to introduce a 4th color, I left the trunk and limbs white.  Generally, I would color them, but I actually like that the leaves, pears and partridge really pop without the brown.  Hello Honey and Tangelo were the perfect colors to use on my pears – and on my partridge!

Here's my card

partridge and pears

I stamped the sentiment in StazOn black and then added an old enamel dot to help anchor the sentiment.  It looks a much brighter orange in the photograph than it is in real life, but I promise it keeps the Tangelo color scheme 🙂

As always, the players have created some fabulous inspiration cards for you.  Pop along to their blogs and check out their cards and then come back to the Paper Players and play along with us this week.

I'll be back tomorrow night with some more holiday catalog inspiration cards for you.  In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

Hugs

Jaydee

  1. Oh Jaydee this is just beautiful!!! Love how you colored this gorgeous image, and love how you left the tree trunk white. Really allows the other elements of the image to stand out. Just lovely.

  2. Clean and beautiful, Jaydee! What a perfect use of the challenge colors! I LOVE how you only colored smidgens of the leaves. The look is awesome!

  3. That was a great stamp to use for the challenge, I like the idea you had by leaving the trunk uncolored. It does make the colors of the leaves pop. I really like the enamel dot, too, adds just the right touch!

  4. Love this….that image looked too intimidating for me to color, but I love how you added just little pops of color! Wonderful!

  5. Beautiful card, Jaydee! I keep going back to that stamp set because of you. :o)
I’m still not overly enamored of Hello Honey, but I can see that it works well with the other two colors in this challenge. Maybe I’ll have a chance to play along this week! :oD
    Hugs!
    P.S. Howdy, Lou! :o)

  6. Jaydee, this card is beautiful! I love the way you colored this image. It just pops off the paper! I don’t have this stamp, but I might have to buy it after seeing your card! Thanks for the inspiration! XX

  7. Gorgeous card, Jaydee! How clever to use these colors on a Christmas card—I never would have thought it. Your coloring is perfection and I love all the white peeking through. Lovely job!
