The fabulous Nance has a great challenge for us at the Paper Players this week.
Most of my regular blog readers will be expecting me to use my favorite leaf stamp set – French Foliage. Well, surprise, surprise. I'm not!
It was a great excuse to bring out a new toy. An intricate cutting plate with holly leaves. It was the perfect backdrop for a CAS leafy card :-) Sadly, the weather was dark, gloomy and rainy. Not conducive to taking a decent photograph. The fact that it was past 3pm didn't help either! I'm hoping that the weather clears up tomorrow and allows me to take a better photo.
I started with a piece of Gumball Green card stock and ran it through my Big Shot – using my new Magnetic platform for my Big Shot. I LOVE…. let me repeat that …. LOVE the new magnetic platform.
I then glued the holly image onto white cardstock and used my retired Bright Christmas stamp set as it contains the perfect sentiment :-) I stamped the sentiment in Versamark and then heat embossed with gold embossing powder. I put the sentiment layer over the top of the holly cut layer using dimensionals. All I needed to do before doing that, was stamp a little holly leaf on the sentiment layer. To finish off the card, I took a red gel roller pen and created shiny little red berries.

See what I mean about the photograph? I really must try and redo it tomorrow. I do love the intricacy of the holly leaf cut outs, though. Really pretty.

It's been nuts at the office this week and the last two days have meant really long hours and left me pretty exhausted at the end of the day. So, no getting to my craft room and no time to even do a blog post. It was good to spend a little time crafting today, even if it was a short amount of time, it allowed me to just switch off and concentrate on something other than work! It really is a great escape.
Lou and I put a water bowl on the deck and the birds have been flocking to it. Eight or ten goldfinches at a time and other birds lined up on the deck railing for their turn. We hadn't realized it was going to be such a big hit. I'll try and take some photographs to share with you tomorrow.

Such a clever girl to make a Christmas card for this challenge! It truly never even entered my mind, lol! I can see why you were itching to use this leaf die–it’s gorgeous! Love the card. We have a heated birdbath that is out all winter and the birds love to get a drink or even a bath, brrrr. Worth the investment.

Ooooooooo! I LOVE that holly cutting plate! This is one fabulous card, Jaydee! And, might I add, I too am *in love*(!) with my magnetic cutting platform!
I’m now wanting to set out a bowl of water for my birdies. :o) The gold finches are now brown finches, and they’re hanging with the house finches and titmice and cardinals these days. :oP They have the pond, but I’m fairly certain, would love the other water as well.
I’m so sorry work has been so hectic. I hope it slows down some this week.
