Hi Everyone. Happy Tuesday.
I hope you are all having a great start to your week, I certainly am! I took a day off work today and managed to get a little time in my craft room making Christmas cards. However, because it gets dark so early these days, I won't be able to photograph them until tomorrow. I do have a card I made last week though, using a sketch from Freshly Made Sketches,
Here's the FMS sketch:
I really thought it was fabulous and knew that I wanted to use my SU star punch. I so rarely use my punches these days, that it was great to have an excuse.
I paired it with a sentiment from PTI from a set called Star Gazer. It seemed perfect!
Note to self: ensure that the edges of the stars are correctly adhered!!!!
On a personal note:
Thanks to Colleen for reminding me of John McCrae's In Flanders Field. It is a beautiful, timeless poem. Perfect for Veteran's Day.
Jeanne: Pam and I were talking about the fact that we were lucky that we had grown up with parents that taught us to respect and remember those that had fought in WWI and WWII. So, thank you for your comment. I so vividly recall growing up in post-war Britain, where bomb sites were a regular occurence and the ravages of the German bombing was still so visible. The scars of WWII, and the memories of WWI, were present in all of us.
War is different now. It's more technology focused. Sometimes it is so remote we can hardly imagine the places where our loved ones serve. Regardless of where war is being waged, our loved ones are fighting for our freedom. We must remember them now as we did in 1940, 1920, 1950, 1960 or 1990. Thanks to all of you who left comments on my Rembrance Day post.
As always, thank you for your visit – and your comments. Warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight. I'll be back on Thursday with another card.
Hugs
Jaydee

What a great looking CAS card and the sentiment is perfect.
Call me old fashion, but I still enjoy using my punches.

Burr; it’s Cold down here
Adorable card Jaydee. Love the sparkle of the glimmer paper star. I need to try some of that sometime. Yes, I have become relaxed on using my punches lately too, but I do love them. Good reminder!
I missed your last post but read it this morning. So touching Jaydee. I wanted to share with you that we took our kids to see the Doolittle Raiders last get together at our Air Force Museum in Dayton, Ohio. Our scout pack lined the streets and we waved our flags. It was moving to hear their words in his humble speech. My son made the NBC Nightly News for about 5 seconds and our local paper as part of the crowd. It was a beautiful sunny, crisp day with the clearest blue sky. Perfect to see the fly over! I am trying to teach my kids to remember and thank our vets and we wear red, white, and blue on these special days. I enjoyed the poems and thank you for your post.
You can never go wrong with glimmer paper. :o) I find myself focusing on one thing and then falling back on something I used a couple of years ago and then moving on to something else again. I work in waves with my supplies. It’s always fun to pull out something that’s not seen use in awhile. :o)
Because both Brien and his brother have served in the military, service to country is quite fresh in our families’ minds. However, we don’t forget those who have gone before–both of our grandfathers served in WWII, and we always take time in DC to visit the war memorials. We’re teaching the girls to do the same.
Hugs!
P.S. Hiya, Lou!
