French Foliage for Paper Players #171and Seize the Sketch #7

Hi Everyone.  Happy Saturday.

The fabulous Ann has a color challenge for us this week.

Now…this was a real challenge for me as they are three colors I never use.  In fact, I have to admit this, I abhor Tangerine Tango!  I know… I'm sorry!  People make fabulous cards with it, but it's just too LOUD for me.  Chocolate Chip is too blah.  Crushed Curry?  Well, I'd forgotten what a gorgeous color it actually is!  So, many thanks to Ann for pushing me completely outside of my comfort zone – and for making me re-discover Crushed Curry!

When I have a color theme, I go looking for a sketch.  Luckily, I found a great one across at Seize the Sketch

It's a great sketch and I knew it was perfect for the CAS card I had in mind for the Paper Players challenge.

As I detest Tangerine Tango, and am not too fond of Chocolate Chip, I decided to go all out and totally embrace Crushed Curry.

I started with a strip of Very Vanilla and my French Foliage set.  What would I do without this set?!!!  I really do love it!

I inked up a leaf in Crushed Curry and then did the "rock and roll" technique using the Tangerine Tango.  It actually is gorgeous in small doses and really played well with the Crushed Curry.  So, Ann knew what she was doing when she paired these two colors!

To bring in the Chocolate Chip, I inked up the "splotch" stamp in the French Foliage set and, using one corner of the stamp, placed little Chocolate Chip splotches in between the leaves.  I wanted to tone down the intensity of the Chocolate Chip, so I stamped it off before stamping it between the leaves.

I looked at the sketch and noticed that it had two sections on the horizontal layer.  So, I pulled out some vellum and covered up the majority of the horizontal layer, leaving just a small section of the Very Vanilla exposed.  I then went over the leaves in that section with gel rollers to give it just a little shimmer and shine.  All that was left was to create the vertical layer and add the sentiment.

Here's my finished card

French Foliage

I'm sorry it is a little out of focus, but it was another dull day today – and REALLY windy.  So, I had to photograph the card in the sheltered part of the front porch, and the light really wasn't that great!

Once I had made the outside of my card, I did a small amount of complementary decoration on the inside and on the envelope.

Now, the card is already to be personalized and put into the post!

Don't forget to check out the fabulous cards from my fellow Paper Players Design team members – they have another set of amazing inspiration cards for you:

And don't forget to pop along to the Paper Players and Seize the Sketch and join in the fun!

As always, thank you for your visit and your comments.  They are always greatly appreciated.  Warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.  I'll be back tomorrow.

Hugs

Jaydee

  1. Just plain LOVELY, Jaydee. The colors came together so well and the velum muted into softness. It reminded me of the wind gusting then dying down. Really nice.

  2. Lovely and simple, Jaydee. :o) Now see, I actually LIKE Chocolate Chip and Tangerine Tango and find Crushed Curry rather offensive to my yellow loving sensibilities. ;oP
It’s been hectic around these parts the past couple of days. Here’s hoping today is low-key and easy.
Enjoy your Monday–is that even possible…??
    Hugs!
    P.S. Hi Lou!

  3. I like the color scheme and I think your card is lovely.
Like the way you used that piece of vellum.
Great job on the card all the way around even tho you’re not much for the color combination

  4. Crushed Curry really is a gorgeous color and your card shows us why! Love all the “curry space”, lol, and the rock-n-rolled leaves are gorgeous, Jaydee!
