Hi Everyone.
Happy Monday. I hope you are all enjoying this truly glorious fall weather!
I have another card to share with you tonight. I saw another great color challenge across at dynamic duos and a fabulous sketch across at ART

I didn't just do fulfil the color challenge at dynamic duos, I also managed to fit in the "dessert option" with wet embossing.
I decided a masculine card was in order….. the crumb cake and black just felt masculine to me.
Here's my card:
I really love the sketch and think the color scheme is very sophisticated. I wanted to continue the circular theme, so added a large polka dot embossed layer to the card and then carried the circle theme into the DSP choices as well as the black candy dots.
This is the last of the cards that was put into the final OWH card drive box. I'll be back tomorrow with an update on that, the last of the OWH teaser cards and news about a little fun blog candy to close out the OWH drive. So, don't forget to come back again tomorrow!
On a personal note:
As part of our trip earlier this month, we visited Prince Edward Island. Now, many of you will remember reading Anne of Green Gables growing up. I also watched Avonlea way back in the 90s and was fascinated by the idea of Prince Edward Island. In fact, it's been on my "life list" for a very long time. So, I was thrilled to discover that the cruise visited PEI – and that we got to visit the house that inspired "Green Gables".
Once again, I learned so much more about Lucy Maud Montgomery than I ever knew before. Yes, I knew she was an author… I mean… I had read the Green Gables stories, right?! Well, Maud was a very prolific author of poems and books. She wrote in the region of 200 poems, 500 short stories and 20 novels. Now that was an achievement!
The house that inspired Green Gables was not the one that she was born in, or ever owned. However, she did spend a fair bit of time visiting the part of her family that owned the farm. It sits in a beautiful wooded valley and you can see why Maud was so inspired by it. Sadly, we got very little time in Cavendish and it was raining fairly heavily. We did manage to get to visit the house, the barn and the little gift shop. Of course, I had to buy a copy of Anne of Green Gables, but there was another interesting book there – one that I couldn't resist.
Apparently, Maud was a prolific scrapbooker and scrapbooked her entire life. There is a book created from portions of her scrapbooks and it is a fascinating insight into the every day minutae that captured Maud's attention. It is absolutely wonderful. Full of pressed flowers and invitations and recollections of the day. I just couldn't resist it!
Maud was passionate about nature and I think she would be exceptionally proud of the fact that the area around the house in Cavendish – and for many miles beyond that – has been designated a national park.
Here are a couple of photos I took:
Coming up the stairs I looked out of the window. Everything about this reminded me of England. The old wooden casement windows; the grey skies; the green-green grass – and, of course, the English inspired garden!
I saw the old sewing machine and looked out of the window and couldn't help but think it would have been severely distracting to look out at the gardens when I was supposed to be sewing 🙂
It was a cold and wet day when we were there. I saw this buggy in the stable and couldn't help wondering how it must have been traveling around in the winter months, or rainy summers, in that buggy! 🙂
When we got back to the ship and came back from dinner. This was the "towel creature" that greeted us on the bed:
Isn't that cute!
And, on that note, I will thank you all for your visits and your comments. They really do make my day and I really do appreciate them all. Warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.
Hugs
Jaydee

Jaydee; you nailed it on the masculine looking card. It’s lovely.
Thanks for sharing the photos. The house looks so charming and that view looking out the window; gorgeous. Looks like a very peaceful place to be at.
Enjoyed the photos, thank you.
Have a great and wonderful day.

Once again you’ve taken me on a memory trip of my own trip to the Maritimes. Funny, I don’t remember the barn, though. I never knew that Maud was a scrapbooker. It would be fascinating to see her work. My mother used to tell me that Maud was a cousin to neighbours of theirs when she was growing up. That silly slim thread of connection always made me feel very kindly towards Maud and Anne. 🙂
Polka dots! I LOVE polka dots!! What a fantastic card!
And, sorry I can’t gush more, but (BUT!!) I’m totally distracted because YOU WENT TO GREEN GABLES!!!!!! GAH!!!! I’m SO excited!!!
Oh, Anne brought me so much joy when I was a girl (still does!). I read all the Anne books (all eight are still sitting on my shelf, spines all cracked where they’ve been read and reread so many times). I watched “Avonlea”. I watch the “Anne of Green Gables” movies at least once every couple of months while stamping (even if they DID take some liberties with the second one). And, Oh, Joy, you got to PEI. :sigh: :happy happy sigh: You even shared your adventures and photos!
Thank you for that. This was truly wonderful for me, and I know that *someday*, I WILL make it to PEI and Green Gables’ inspiration.
I bet Maud’s scrapbook is absolutely *fascinating*! How wonderful you were able to obtain one of those books. :o)
Okay, I better be off before I start rambling even more than I have already. :oP
Hugs!

Beautiful card and gorgeous photos! Thanks for sharing. 🙂
Great that you could play with us at Dynamic Duos this week!
My mother was named Rilla after Marilla a character in the Anne of Green Gables book. Two years ago at 88 she read all the books in the series again. My mom passed last month, so your pictures reminded me of a wonderful memory. Thanks.
Hi Jaydee! I love the tag on your card and pretty flags. Now that I’ve looked another time, I see the candy dots repeating the circles too! It’s the little things that make us smile, huh.
Your visit to PEI looks amazing. I’ve never been but now I’d love to go. What a treasure to see it all in person! Thank you for sharing your adventures with us. I always enjoy your photos and stories.
