Happy Autumn and Perky Birthday for Freshly Made Sketches

Hi Everyone.  Happy Sunday.

Hall Fall!   It felt really aumtumnal today.  The trees are starting to parade their gorgeous fall colors and there is still warmth in the sun, but the wind has a chill.   It felt seasonal enough, on this, the first day of autumn, that I felt it was time to decorate the front porch!

Before I share pictures of that, though, I did get the chance to play along with some challenges.  After prepping all the cards for the OWH drive (full details on that tomorrow!) it felt good to be able to have some time to stamp just for the fun of it.  Mind you, the cards I made yesterday and today will be the last ones in the OWH box tomorrow!

I also had a great start to my weekend when I popped along to check out the Just-add-ink sketch for this week and found that this card had been chosen as the winning card at Just-add-ink.  I was thrilled.  That little boost really helped to kick off a creative weekend!  I had such fun with the card and was really chuffed about this win!

Whilst I was looking at challenges to play along with, I saw this great sketch across at Freshly Made Sketches and managed to make a card to submit just before closing!

I turned the sketch on the vertical to fit my focal image.   I had such fun coloring this and then covered it with Crystal Effects and left it overnight to totally dry.

Here's what I made:

Fmsperky (1 of 1)

I used two different embossing folders – the large polka dots and the chevron.  I chose those two because they echo the dots and chevrons in the coffee cups.  The Crystal Effects gives the cups such a great shine and I think dresses them up a little.  I thought it needed just a little bit more, so added the rhinestones.

On a personal note:

On Tuesday, I will have the last of the OWH teaser cards for you and an update on the card drive, plus a little blog candy that you can win.  So, I hope you come back and visit on Tuesday.

As today is officially the first day of Autumn, I thought I would share a couple of photographs with you.

We went to a farm about 5 minutes from home and found that they had straw bales and masses of pumpkins.  Perfect 🙂

Fall decor (1 of 1)-2

Here's a closer look at the straw bale decor.

Strawbales (1 of 1)

The great thing about the pumpkins is that, once they have reached their limit of ripeness, they can be opened up and the deer and other wildlife eat every single bit of them.  So, they look good now, but don't go to waste either!

As always, thank you for visiting my little neck of the stamping blogosphere.  Your visits and your comments are always much appreciated.  Warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

Hugs

Jaydee

  1. hi jaydee, i love your porch decorations. the card is awesome,as usual. our weather here is getting chiller also, we are in the middle of new york, where are you located in minn, i have family in barnsville and fargo. both very flat and chilly too.
have a good day and love reading your blog and all the wonderful cards and pictures you post. thank you

  2. Congrats Jaydee on your card being selected! That was such a unique card with that great bicycle embellishment. Today’s card is awesome as well! I love the warm browns and all your texture. I wouldn’t have thought to mix the embossing folders as you did and will have to try that sometime. I’m in love with the PTI cup image too!
Your porch is wonderful! I only have a wreath up outside and need to get with it. lol. Your straw bales and pumpkins are great. The entire view is breathtaking and looks like something I’d see in Better Homes and Gardens. We grew pumpkins in our community garden this year and I have two that I’m giving as much time on the vine as possible. They are small but I’m tickled pink that I have one for each child!

  3. Lovely card as well as the cute sentiment
What a beautiful porch; all decorated for fall;not too much to where it is overwhelming but just enough to make it look very inviting.
    Enjoy your day

  4. Congrats on the win! I always get so chuffed when one of my cards is selected and I get an extra boost in the creativity department.
That’s a fun sketch and I love the card! I’m such a coffee junkie, how could I not? ;oP
I LOOOOOOOVE your fall decor!!! I’m *such* a fall girl I can’t seem to help it. I got started on the front stoop this weekend when we put out the scarecrow we made at the Harvest Festival. My friend gave me the most ginormous mum you have ever seen so it’s there as well. Now for pumpkins and hay bales and we’re set! :oP (I put the pumpkins out back for the squirrels when we’re finished with them.)
I can’t wait to see the OWH details–how exciting!
    Happy Monday!
    Hugs!
P.S. Hiya Lou! Happy Fall! I bet it’s wonderful biking in this weather!
