Christmas Star for Paper Players #158

Hi Everyone.  Happy Saturday night.

The fabulous Ann has a wonderful challenge for you all this week and, immediately I saw the challenge, I knew I was going to use one of my new SU goodies……. Christmas Star.

If you haven't seen this new stamp, just click on the link above and go check it out.   I love the size of it and it will definitely feature in my Christmas cards this year.   Anyway, here's Ann's challenge:

Ah..ha… a one layer card…. always tough, but fabulous for posting!  I had seen a card made by one of the concept artists at Stampin' Up, her name is Melody.   You can see her post here.  I loved both the 3D artwork and the card she made and knew that I would take the card and use that as the inspiration for my Paper Players card this week.

I started off with a Shimmery White card base.  It's the perfect weight for a card base and has just the right amount of shimmer for Christmas.   I then inked up the stamp using Encore silver and stamped it directly onto the card base.   I then heat embossed it with silver embossing powder.

I knew that it needed a large sentiment, and remembered one of my favorites from the retired set Many Merry Messages.   I stamped it onto the card base using my Stamp-a-ma-jig and some StazOn ink.

It needed a little something…. so I went ferreting in my collection of rub-ons.   Remember those? 🙂 Ah. ha.  I found an old set from Stampin' Up! that I had purchased on clearance a couple of years ago called Icicle.  It has some little snowflake rub ons, and I knew they were exactly what I needed.   I placed them onto the card based and finished off the card with some basic Rhinestones.

Here's my card:

Christmas Star

Isn't it a fabulous star?   I think it is!   I hope you will join the Paper Players this week and play along with us.    Ohhhhhh and shout out to Rach for being the Headliner for last week's color challenge.   You can check out her fabulous card here.

Don't forget to pop by and check out what fabulous cards the design team have for your inspiration.

On a personal note:

The weather is GLORIOUS.   But….. beginning to feel a little too like fall for my liking!  NOOOOOO…. I'm not ready for fall yet… even though I'm making Christmas cards!  I haven't done watching all of the wonderful parts of our garden and wetland come to life.

As I type my blog post, Bilbo is on the window sill, in front of the open window, watching the Chipmunk run backwards and forwards hiding corn and seeds.  Yes, even he's getting ready for winter!    Niles and Daphne are lying down in our woodland area near the Buddha statue.   The whole little vignette is so wonderfully serene.   Disturbed only my the caawing of the Crow.  It would have been much better – and more fitting – if I could have told you that the Morning Dove was cooing gently.  🙂

A huge SHOUT OUT to Gill and Marilyn.  I received their boxes of cards today!   YAY!   Way to go ladies, you ROCK.   You know I appreciate it… but you know that the troops and their families will appreciate your wonderful creations even more than I.

As always, thank you to all of you for your visits and your comments.   Warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.  Have a blessed Sunday.

Hugs

Jaydee

We’ve had cooler temps the past few days as well and it’s been lovely to have the windows open and hear the frogs and toads and birds. I had forgotten just how noisy feisty hummingbirds can be!
I’ll be shipping my box of cards to you as close to the deadline as possible so I’ll have all the more for you. :o)
