Hi Everyone. Happy Thursday.
Quick post for you tonight.
One of the challenges I managed to play along with over the long weekend is Merry Monday. It's a fabulous sketch challenge

Isn't that an awesome sketch? I immediately knew what I wanted to do with it!
I pulled out my new Core'dinations sandable card stock and ran it through my Big Shot and SU embossing folder and then sanded off the top layers of color using my sanding block. Even though the color variation is slight because of the Pool Party, you can still tell the difference. Here's a close-up look
The closeup is a little washed out, but I think you can see the difference in the sanded areas both in color (much lighter), but it also changes the texture.
Here's the complete card:
I stamped and colored the images and then cut the rolling hills from an adhesive page using a die from PTI. I then covered them in glitter and mounted them on top of the focal images, layering each over the other using dimensionals. The sentiment was stamped onto Vellum card stock and adhered to the base using mini glue dots. To cover up the dots I added two little Silver glimmer stars. I was really pleased with the end result and think that Pool Party is a stunning color. I also love the Core'dinations card stock and have much more on my order for tomorrow! I think it's going to be fun to play with the darker colors.
Don't forget to pop along to Merry Mondays and check out the fabulous design team cards – oh… and play along, too. Think about it… you will have a card ready for Christmas and each time you play along, you have one less card to worry about come December 🙂
On a personal note:
It's been a relative feast of bird sightings in the yard the last couple of days. I'll be sharing some photos with you over the next few days. Tonight, here's a pair of my favorite visitors. We saw them once, very fleetingly, last year, but they are sticking around this year.
They are very shy and for some reason, always seem to be hanging around outside when I decide to go onto the deck. They get flushed very easily and make a hasty exit stage right! The male is just so gorgeous. We have been trying to find a wood duck house but haven't been successful yet. I know it's too late for this year, but we are hoping we can get one and put it up in time for nesting next year!
As always, thank you for visiting my little neck of the stamping blogosphere. Warm hugs and prayers for all of you who need a little lift tonight.
Hugs
Jaydee

Wow Jaydee, I always adore your work and this card is no exception. I think this must be a card about your sweet new house, all decked out at Christmas. Also, love the sanded background and your new blog look is very pretty! So happy you played along my friend!
Hugs,

This is just lovely! The sanded background is stunning and that image….makes me feel very cool and wintry! You did an awesome job with the sketch, Jaydee!
Beautiful card. Such great looking snow drifts. Reminds me of all the snow we used to get when living in Iowa many, many years ago. (don’t miss it one little bit)
If we received that much snow here in Texas, Everything would be at a stand still.
What a cute wood duck pair.
Jaydee; I sent you an email. :}

Okay, this settles it, I’ve got to get some of that card stock–it’s already on my next order. ;o) I LOVE this card! How can you go wrong with loads of snow?
And, your little visitors are just delightful!
Happy Friday, friend!
Hugs!
P.S. Hiya Lou! :o)
Just gorgeous. Love the snow. The wood ducks seem to enjoy your little corner of the world. We have ducks and Canada geese all the time. The geese are just too messy!!
Wonderful card, I love the soft colours and pretty winter scene you have created. Thank you for joining us for Merry Monday this week.
Super card – thanks for sharing for Merry Monday 64 – Hazel, Guest Designer – you could also enter my CHNC challenge 126 – I’d love to see it there too x
What a wonderful, cozy card, Jaydee! I love the sanded embossing and the vellum sentiment! So perfect for showing off the house and snowdrifts! Thanks for sharing this with us at Merry Monday! Love the wood ducks too! Stunning!
Beautiful scene you have created on your card 🙂 Thanks for joining us at Merry Monday this week 🙂
Beautiful card! That sweet scene is just perfect, it caught my eye right away!
I loved your duck photo. We have a female mallard thats been coming to our backyard every evening for the last few weeks. She sits back there and eats bird seed!
