Sandy Shaker for Paper Players #148

Hi Everyone.  Happy Saturday.  It's my pleasure to host the Paper Players challenge this week and it's a theme challenge.   A theme that felt perfect for this upcoming season!

I was getting something out of the garage the other day and saw that we had some bags of sand that we had been using over winter to weigh down the Christmas decorations.   Seeing the sand created a "light bulb" moment for me.   I knew then that I wanted to have a little fun and create a sandy shaker card.

Sadly, I didn't have a summer themed sentiment, so went with a general sentiment, but I think you can see the focal image of the card is distinctly summer holiday!

We hope that you will join us this week and I'd love to see what you all do with this fun theme!  Don't forget to check out what the fabulous design team have created for your inspiration.

Card ingredients – all Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted:

  • Card stock:  Whisper White.  Pool Party.  Midnight Muse
  • DSP:  Sent with Love (used to create the scallop shell)
  • Tools:  Trimmer, plastic sheet from an old stamp set (used to top the shaker).  Basic Pearls.  Crystal Effects (used to seal the edges of the foam tape to ensure that the sand didn't escape from tiny little gaps!)
  • Sentiment:  Pedal Pusher (PTI)

Warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

Hugs

Jaydee

  1. How fun is this? I love that little sea shell in the corner and the pearl. How could I not love the pearl? It’s so brilliantly summery!
I have the fifteen year old neighbor coming over today for card making lessons–they’re moving to Texas in two weeks and wants something fun to do that she can do in the a/c ;oP–and I was telling her about looking for ideas on challenge sites. We’ll have to look into this one today. :o)
    Hugs!
P.S. Hi Lou! :o) How’s the painting going? All done, I hope. :o)

  3. What a beautiful summer card. Has been so long since I have made a shaker card I may have to go and get one started for a very special granddaughter that will be turning 5 soon.
    Have a good day.

  4. Super cute! Love the sand shaker. This would have worked well for the “recycle and repurpose” challenge too, LOL! And what a brilliant little pleated seashell, love it! Hugs 🙂 Sandy

  5. Jaydee, you will crack up when I tell you this: I was checking out your post for 6/1 and I saw the heading “Sandy Shaker” and I thought; “Sandy Shaker? Who’s she?” Then I saw you card–Oh, sandy shaker, I get it!!
Thanx for sharing your bird siting pictures. I always enjoy seeing what shows up at your feeders.

  6. Oh, Jaydee! Everything about this card is brilliant! Love the shaker + sand, the shell, the colors…it’s all gorgeous. What a great challenge. ((hugs))
