Train Tracks

Hi Everyone.  Happy Thursday.

this is going to be a short post!  I started work at 7 this morning and still need to go back and finish some stuff.

I did want to share a card with you though.  It's another one that I made for Enchanted Makeovers.  When I was working out what cards to make, I realized that I really didn't have any children's sets…. cos I never make cards for kids!  I knew I didn't want to spend much money on sets and went searching.  I found a couple of really cute sets, perfect for the drive, that cost me $5.  You can't go wrong with that.  The funny thing is this, when I started playing with these sets – I had the most amazing fun.  Seriously, you shouldn't be able to have that much fun for $5.  This particular set was more than $5 – it cost $15… but I thought it was worth it anyway 🙂

One of the sets I found is called Train Tracks.  Oh.. I had such fun coloring this.  Yes, I know… putzy, but I SO enjoyed it.   Once I had colored the train, I realized I needed to anchor it on something. mmmmm… searching through my stack of goodies I found a picket fence die I had bought ages ago!  Oh yes…. now…. I could easily turn that into train tracks… for the train to go on!

Here's what I came up with:

train tracks
Isn't that cute?  It makes me smile just looking at it.  Of course, I had to add a little bit of bling – even though you can't see it, there is gelly roller on the headlight, and on some of the presents on the trailer, as well as on the clouds of steam.   I used my Copic markers for the coloring and also to add shadow under the clouds and around the backs of the train compartment and trailer.

I cut the top off the picket fence die cut, and placed onto the card base.  First, I decided to add some texture behind the train tracks and got out my Stampin' Scorer to do that.  It looked so much better having the horizontal lines underneath the train tracks.

You could also use this card for a more mature audience – just changing up the colors to something more regal and changing out the sentiment.  It's really a super cute set – Lou totally approved!

I hope you enjoyed the card… and I hope that it will brighten the day of some little boy.  I'll be sharing some of the cards made from the $5 sets with you over the next week or so.

As always, thank you for spending time in my little area of the stamping blogosphere.  You know I appreciate it.  I also appreciate your comments.

Rach… Lou wanted me to let you know that he isn't quite yet finished with painting… but he is holding me to a pact… he'll do all the painting and stuff that I want him to do up until January.  After that… he's on his bike!  He really gets cranky when he doesn't get out and do a loooooong bicycle ride!

Warm hugs and prayers to those of you who need a little lift tonight.  Have a fabulous Friday

Hugs

Jaydee
