London Calling for Cas-ual Fridays

Hi Everyone.  Happy Wednesday.

Cas-ualfridays have a fabulous challenge this week….. It's a theme challenge!

 Now, generally I am pretty stuck on these challenges.  However, I knew what I wanted to do within minutes.

As many of you know I'm from good old Blighty and I saw this fabulous set across at Amuse Studio called "British Invasion" and I had to have it – for obvious reasons :-)  Well, as soon as I saw the CAS challenge for name that tune, I knew I wanted to do something about London.  Then I remembered this new set and pulled it out. 

What's more London than a red bus on a bridge over the River Thames?  Then, what's more British than 'ello Love?  And what could be more British than the British punk rock band Clash and their song "London Calling"!!!

Here's my London Calling card:

All I needed to bring this image to life was some red and black embossing powders and a couple of black pearls for the wheels.  The Whisper White layer against the Basic Black and Real Red helps to really make the images pop.  

So, what do you think of my London Calling take on this challenge?   I was going to use the red telephone box image, but it was just a little too small for this.  I was quite pleased with it.

On a personal note:

I promised to share a couple more photos of the progress of our house, and share some bird stories.  So, let me combine both of those for you in this photo.

Mmm… a picture of a tree, so what?  I can hear you all asking…. well…. I did take a photograph of the sandhill crane flying by…. BUT… the tree got in the way…. let me zoom in for you

I promise, that amorphous, strange shape you can see behind the branches… is actually the crane!  It was going way faster than I thought!

As well as the Crane we saw a Bluebird!  Oh yes!  We were so excited.  We had discussed buying a Bluebird house to put out on the wetland and were so excited when we saw one sitting on a stalk of reed!  We also saw an (as yet) unidentified flycatcher. the chickadees were still at their nest.  We also saw 3 different types of woodpecker and a bluejay.  Not bad for a few minutes viewing.  We heard lots of birds that we could not recognize from their calls… so lots of new things for us to discover.

Here's another view from our deck – looking at our favorite stump.  Take a look at the stump and you can see the holes that have been pecked out by the woodpeckers.  We love this stump and are so pleased that we managed to get to the site to save it from being chopped down!

Now, I'm going to share a photo of the 'shrooms growing on the stump.

Now you can see from the photo higher up, how big this stump is – so you have to know that those 'shrooms are pretty large.  They are dinner plate size!  I took a little closeup for you

Aren't they awesome?   We think they are!
