Hello Friend – Paisley Petals

Hi Everyone.  Happy Wednesday night

Don't forget – blog candy alert… my post last night has all the details.  You have the chance of winning some bling, or a roll of brand new ribbon from the 2011/2012 catty.  Check out this link here.  I've really enjoyed reading the stories of the teachers that inspired you with life long passions – or even changed your careers.  Can't wait to read what the rest of you have to say.  And…. carry on guessing which cute young thing in that old scungy photo is me!

On to tonight's card.  I don't know… sometimes you have this great idea in your head, inspired by something you have seen.  In this particular case, I was inspired by the Tuesday trigger across at Moxiefabworld.  Here's the link to the inspiration pic and the card that I finally submitted.

I loved the crisp white lines of the bed cover,he patterns in the blue backdrop, the silver of the mirror and the pop of pink from the flowers.  I had this idea in my head…. somehow it just didn't quite make it to paper!

Hellofriend

Well, I got all the elements… but somehow it just doesn't work.  The pink is too bright.  The blue is too pale.  The Pattern on the Paisley paper doesnt quite fit the flowers…. I don't know…. it just isn't right!

Do you ever have those days.  When you have a great idea, you putz around for ever, get it all glued down…. and it just doesn't look right?  I hope I am not alone!

On a personal note:

It has been raining a great deal over the last few days.  The good news is that its cooler.  The bad news is that the ground is really soaked and I seriously don't think that we need any more liquid in the major rivers going south!  I think the Missisippi has got quite enough from the winter snow melt and the rains earlier in the spring!

Early Tuesday morning we had torrential rain, incredible lightening. So bad that we lost power at around 4.00am and it was only restored at around 5.30 a.m.  More rain yesterday evening.  Lou was in the kitchen last night and heard a phenomenal noise.  It was only this evening that we realized that half the huge tree in our neighbor's garden had come loose and fallen over.  It really is a HUGE tree.  It's a gorgeous tree, too, I might add.  Well.. it was…. There is at least a third of it on our neighbor's deck right now.  Luckily, it's a very bottom heavy tree, so the parts that fell on the deck are the leafy, light branches.  Still…. I think they are likely to take out the whole tree because it certainly isn't stable now.   I think it just got too wet and heavy.  It hadn't been struck by lightening, but it obviouslly was weak at a certain point.

Hopefully, we will have relief from the rain soon.  It's really beginning to feel a lot like England.  It's even "English" rain.  You know… that stuff that isn't heavy, but never seems to stop and the sun never comes out?

Anyone watching THE VOICE?  I LOVE that show.  I love that the coaches put themselves out there on the line and I think there is some amazing talent on the show.  For anyone watching it… my hope is that Beverly, Javier and Vicci make it to the finals.

As always, thank you for visiting my little area of the stamping blogosphere.  You KNOW how much it means to me.  Don't forget, if you have any questions about any of my projects – or stamping in general – just leave me a message.

Hugs and prayers for those who need a little lift tonight.

Hugs

Jaydee

  1. I am watching The Voice also and agree with your picks for the finals. I don’t think Blake’s girls are that strong but I love Beverly. It was hard to pick between her and Frenchie.
Your favorite teacher question is a good one but I can’t really think or remember which I would pick of mine. It has been too long for me I guess!

  2. I don’t think this card is bad! I like the blue and white together and while I agree it is not one of your best cards, I would certainly keep it! I love the sentiment stamp, what company is that from?

  3. Nope not watching the Voice, just don’t get around to watching to much TV. We have just about had rain everyday in the last several weeks. Oh well, it is keeping everything bright and pretty and the flowers watered for me.
I like the card, but wouldn’t have put the flowers on it cause you are right, they just don’t match very well. I think I would have gone with the bird punch or owl punch and of course you can still do that (never a mistake in stamping) hehehe! Just punch out a scalloped circle and cover it up. : )
Have a great day my friend and thanks for all that you share with us.

  4. My thought on the card is to add a layer of a darker color between the DSP and white. Not much, but it needs a bit of contrast between the two. Maybe a similar idea would set off the pink-just add another layer.
I love all the questions. I may not be posting about them, but they definitely have me thinking!

  5. I love the background of this card.
Not watching “The Voice”, we watch So “You Think You Can Dance”.
We have had the June monsoon and everything is very soggy. Finally we have some warm weather! Summer arrived June 21. Sure do enjoy sitting out on the balcony surrounded by my flowers at 10:30 pm watching the sunset. Summer here is so short you don’t dare complain about the heat.

  6. Oh I really like this….love that pop of pink too!!! Beautiful background.
(Oh BTW….did you see in the news where George Clooney and his girlfriend made the big split!!! Tell Lou he better start staying in town more since George is on the loose now!! LOL!)
