Happy Birthday – Waltzingmouse Challenge

Hi Everyone.   Happy Monday!

Hope you all had a great weekend!

It's rare that I get the chance to do more than one or two challenges in a week, but I saw this sketch  44-Sketch_thumb1
across at Waltzingmouse stamps and decided it was time to get out some of the fabulous nestie friendly stamps that they sell.

The card that I chose as the headliner card for the CAS challenge at the Paper Players last week was yellow, black and white.  I never make a card using those colors, but am always inspired when I do.  So, I channeled Theresa and combined that with the Waltzingmouse challenge.

I loved the idea of the embossing on the lower two thirds of the card, and then plain above.  Tonight's card is one of those rare, very rare, mostly non-SU cards.  However, the card stock, ribbon and inks are all SU!

Card recipe – manufacturer as stated:

  • Card stock:  Whisper White, Basic Black and Daffodil Delight – Stampin' Up!
  • Stamps:  Vintage Labels 4 outline stamp – Waltzingmouse.  Sentiment: Papertrey.
  • Accessories:  Daffodil Delight and Basic Black satin ribbon – Stampin' Up!
  • Inks:  Basic Black and Daffodil Delight classic inks – Stampin' Up!
  • Tools:  embossing folder – non-SU.  Button, non-SU.  Label – nestabilities # 4

Sometimes a sentiment and a ribbon is all a card needs.  I added the button because I thought it softened the look of where the yellow and black ribbons meet at the knot.  But then, I realized, it also adds just a little bit of bling!  Thanks to Rach for inspiring me to use two different colors of ribbon together.  I first saw it on her blog, and often find myself reaching for that technique to bring two colors together.  Talking of Rach…. congratulations on your initiation on Saturday, my friend!

On a personal note:

The weekend was wonderful, but just too short!  This week is going to be a very long week work-wise.  So much seems to be happening and needing to be done at work…. with so little time to do it :-)  I did get some stamping time this weekend, though, so I will have cards to share with you this week.

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and a great Monday.

Prayers to those of you who need a little lift or a warm hug!

Hugs

Jaydee

  1. I don’t know if you remember this, but black and yellow is one of my favorite combos for cards. I find it absolutely striking when done well. And, you my friend, have most definitely “done well”. :o)
I wholeheartedly agree with you on the use of the button. It not only helps with the stark contrast of the two colors, it is absolutely the perfect amount of bling. :o)

Where did you get the punch tag (ok see that) and stamp at? Where did you order or pick it up from?
