I’m baaaaaaack – almost!

Hi Everyone.  Happy Thursday.

Well, Lou and I are almost back home…. almost….. we are currently sitting in Atlanta airport on our way back to Minneapolis.   We made a very last minute decision to spend New Year back in England with friends and family.  It was also a perfect time for us to visit my *mom*, Rose.  She is so amazing.  Her strength and her spirit are so inspiring.  She turns 90 this year and is still as sharp as a tack.  She has had some side-effects from the radiation, but continues to take everything in her stride and keep a positive attitude towards all of this.  She really is a wonderful, warm, funny, kind, caring human being.

I had expected to have better access to email and be able to do my blog updates whilst we were away.  However, a couple of the hotels we stayed in had very sloooooooooow internet connection 🙂  So, I hope you will all forgive me for my spotty blog updates this past week.

I also found that I hadn't uploaded all of the cards to use on my blog updates, so find myself without a card to upload for you this evening!  That's the problem with making a decision to go out of the country so late!

We really had a great time.  A few days with friends and family and then off to the Lake District, with a quick trip into the Yorkshire Dales.  We spent the night at one hotel that had free DVDs to watch.  We chose to watch Rene Zellweger in "Miss Potter".  The reason?  'Cos, we were sitting a couple of miles from Beatrix Potter's house, in an area that she loved and spent the latter part of her life trying to conserve.  It was pretty amazing watching the movie, in situ, so to speak.

As for the weather….. we finally saw the sun on our last day in England.  Up until then it had been cold, wet, windy, foggy and grey.  The sun rising after 8am and setting at 4pm.  I had forgotten what it was like getting up to go to work in the dark and coming home in the dark.  The foggy, wet weather did lead to some amazingly dramatic landscape views though.  The Yorkshire Moors are at their best in that kind of weather.  Remember the stories of the Bronte sisters anyone?

Lou and I were very pleased to hear from those of you who were not surprised by our exchanging cards from the furbabies.  Thank you to all of you who left a comment.  Your stories brought a smile to our faces and made us feel much better:-)

I don't know about you, but I am still doing OK on my resolutions – or goals as Rach refers to them.  Let's see how I do when I get back home.

I will be back tomorrow with a new card to show you.

I hope you all have a fabulous Friday.  One filled with love, laughter and time spent doing the things you want to do.

Prayers tonight for Rose.  For Adelle.  Germaine and Pri and for those of you who need a little lift.

Hugs

Jaydee

  1. Oh, Jaydee, how fun to watch Miss Potter, as you say, in situ! And I loved the Brontes when I was growing up! I would love to be able to travel out of the country some day! Safe travels back to Minnesota!

  2. Oh Jaydee, I knew it you were in our territory!! I am feeling a lot better – but still not out of the woods, it is pouring outside as I write this, I am glad you had a fun New Years unlike mine spent in the ICU, Wishing you, Lou your furriebees and all my cyber friends a Very Happy New Year! Hugs always! G

  3. I loved Miss Potter and can imagine how special it would be to watch it ‘in situ’. I have to admit I’ve been missing your daily day brighteners, but I’m glad you had such a lovely holiday.

  4. Glad to hear that you and Lou had a terrific time and that is great you got to spend time with the friends and then Mom Rose and I am sure she was just static about your visit. Welcome home and look forward to the cards and all the New Year idea that you are going to be passing along to all of us. Hugs,

  5. What a wonderful trip! How fun for you and Lou to get to visit with family and friends. I’m sure Mama Rose was overjoyed to see you and you to give her a giant hug. :o)
I’ve only been to the UK once (visiting friends in the Northeast), but I did go to the Lake District and the Beatrix Potter Museum whilst there. I can’t remember the last time I saw such gorgeous scenery. Not to mention, I’m HUGE Beatrix Potter junkie. ;o)
I’m also a huge anglophile and hope to return to the UK one day to visit the Yorkshire Dales. I’ve heard such wonderful things about them (not the least of which was Bill Bryson’s “Notes from a Small Island”, his farewell tour of England–if you haven’t, and you have time, you should really check into that one. The audio book on which he reads is my fave.)
Hm, I’ve hijacked the comments. Oops!
    Welcome back to the States!
    Hugs!

  6. What a wonderful trip. How exciting to pack up and go! I am sure your friends were delighted to visit with you. I envy your get up and go ability.
Happy New Year. I am looking forward to lots of wonderful new cards and techniques. Safe travels.

  7. Glad you had a wonderful and safe trip Jaydee! Hope you, Lou & the furbabies New Years Day!
