Hi Everyone. Happy Friday.
I did manage to spend some quality time in my stamping space today. I don't know about you, but when I get back from being away from my stamping goodies, I am sometimes at a loss as to what to do, or what to use. The best way for me to get back into the groove is to do challenges. When I can combine a color and a sketch challenge, then I'm doubly happy.
I decided to combine the fabulous color combination from the talented team across at colourq with the very vesatile sketch from the talented team across at getsketchy.
I used two stamp sets for this card. The sentiment from Stampn' Ups! In Wilderness with the stamp set I got from Mark's Finest Papers – Nature's Postage. I love the Nature's Postage set because I can color the images, and y'all know by now that I love butterflies! I also LOVE the sentiment from the In Wilderness set. It really resonates with me.
The color challenge called for So Saffron, Daffodil Delight, Soft Sky, Basic Black and Whisper White. I didn't have Soft Sky, so changed it out for Baja Breeze.
I decided to keep the card clean and simple and changed the sketch just a tad, as I ran the horizontal layer all the way across the page. I needed to do that in order to separate the postage stamp from the background layer. Here's what I came up with.
Card recipe – all supplies Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted:
- Card stock: So Saffron, Baja Breeze
- Stamps: Nature's Postage (Mark's Finest Papers). Sentiment: SU In Wilderness
- Inks: Basic Black, So Saffron, Baja Breeze, Daffodil Delight (circles on the butterfly), Copic Marker B00 for the sky background of the stamp
- Accessories: Baja Breeze Seam Binding Ribbon (from the new occasions mini)
Card instructions:
- Cut Baja Breeze card stock to A2 – 11 x 4 1/4. Score and fold at 5 1/2" with the fold on the top.
- Cut So Saffron card stock to 2" x 4 1/4".
- Stamp sentiment in Basic Black ink
- Wrap ribbon around the So Saffron layer, tie, and adhere to the card base
- Stamp Nature's Postage Stamp onto white card stock and color
- Snip around the postage stamp and adhere to card base, over horizontal layer using Stampin' Dimensionals
I loved the color combination, it's really crisp and clean and the sketch is really very versatile. Don't forget to pop along to both the challenge sites and check out the fabulous design team and submission cards. I know you will find something to CASE!
On a personal note:
It is good to be home. The kitties certainly missed us and it is always good to be in your own bed. However, I must admit, we did spend some nights in some very comfortable beds with some really high tech baths. I love a bath at night. It really helps to relax me before going to sleep and I had some pretty cool baths to play in whilst I was away! I will be posting some pics for you of the Peak District, the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales. I took very few pics, but looking at them today, there are some that I am particularly fond of.
I still have some RAKs to share with you later this week as well as some of the cards I made today. I am hoping to get into my stamping space again tomorrow, but housework is calling! I also need to put the Christmas decorations away, too.
Prayers tonight for Rose. Adelle. Maria. Germaine and Pri. For those of you who need a little lift.
As always, thank you for visiting my blog. I really do appreciate your visits and always really enjoy reading your comments and answering your questions.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Hugs
Jaydee

Yes, exactly! When I’m out of my studio for a while, I have a hard time figuring out where to begin again. So, I went looking at challenge blogs, saw these colors and thought they would make a beautiful card.
I was right! Your card is gorgeous. :o) The clean and simpleness of it makes me sigh in appreciation. Well done!
I would love to see the photos you did take, as I’m sure they are beautiful.
I hope you, Lou and the kitties have a wonderful weekend.
Hugs!

This is gorgeous, Jaydee….I never remember seeing that sentiment in our catalog, but it is perfect with that beautiful image! Thanks for playing with us at the CQC this week!
what pretty colours! I just admire your work so much. And I have to say, you are so cool – going to England at the last minute – my goodness, we can’t go to a movie without planning so I really admire people who doe things spontaneously. Really looking forward to seeing your pictures, and wishing you a happy new year (just a week late!)
Such a classy and elegant! It doesn’t look like you’ve been away from stamping at all! 😉
Thank you for joining us at Get Sketchy…so glad you did! 🙂
