Hi Everyone.
There will be two posts for you tonight. This one – detailing how you can win a brand new set from the new occasions mini. I can't show it to you without breaking it up, mounting it and making something with it AND… as this is a blog candy offering, I didn't think the winner would like that too much! However, you can do a google search on "button, button" and Stampin' Up! and I know you will find some wonderful creations out there. Also, those of you who have demos – or are demos, may very well have already seen the new occasions mini catty and will know the set.
I'm thinking that with the name, you might be able to guess what the stamp set consists of! It's actually a super cute set.
So, what do you have to do to be eligible for this wonderful new set?
CASE me – Jaydee. Why?
Well, when I was traveling to New York a week or so ago, I met a flight attendant. Not surprising, huh? I mean… seriously, I was on a plane! OK, so now that I have made the dumbest statement of the day, let me try to explain a little more clearly.
On a recent flight to New York, I met a flight attendant called Robin, aka "the sky angel". Robin made an announcement as we were getting ready to take off, asking for our help, if we wished to participate. Robin told us that every year she "adopts" a new soldier, usually someone who has been on one of her flights. She does several things for that soldier. She sends them care packages, she has people on the flights she works write in a journal (which is what she asked us to do) and then she gathers the journals up and sends them to the soldier. There was a picture of the soldier and his brand new wife at the front of the journal and I was really impressed by how many people make a comment. Also, the journal was beautiful. It wasn't some cheap pad from the dollar store I can tell you!
She also works to get soldiers "adopted". Recently, she reached out to Ryan Rust at adoptahero.us. Ryan is a NASCAR driver who, with his family, set up an agency for members of the armed forces to be paired up with people like you and me who wanted to "adopt" them.
We spent quite a while talking about her cause, sharing stories and shed a few tears. She really is an amazing lady. She spends a great deal of time, effort and money, trying to make one soldier at a time feel a little more appreciated.
One of the things she told me…. was… that the soldiers tell her again and again, that they love it when their name is called out for mail. That got me to thinking….. mmmmm… how could I help Robin help her troops. Yes, she's adopted a lot more than one – even though she says just one!!!
A little while ago, I asked you all for input on how I could make my blog better and Trish, God bless her, before she died wrote me a long email and one of the things she suggested was that I should run challenges…. I put all of these things together in my head… Robin, Trish, soldiers, my blog, cards and came up with an idea.
TO BE ELIGIBLE TO WIN THIS WONDERFUL STAMPIN' UP Set – worth over $25 dollars, all you need to do is show us a card that you have made based on something you have seen on my site and then post the card off to me. I will then take your wonderful creation and add it to some cards that I have made and send them to Robin to send to "her" troops.
Rules:
- You can use ANY stamp set that you have
- No glitter
- Send me a link to your blog or social media site where you have posted your card – and add the link to the card of mine that you have CASED
- Add your link into the comments section of this post
- Send me the card
- It doesn't have to be the exact card – just something I made that inspired you. If you want to add in the comments what inspired you when you made you creation, that would be great
- You have until December 24th at 12pm to link your creation to this post.
- I will draw a winner at random for this wonderful prize
- The card can be blank for a soldier to send home to a loved one – or you can write a message of thanks in the card and Robin will make sure it gets sent to a deserving soldier
HOW EASY is that…. make a card inspired by one of my cards. Send me the link. Send me the card. Seriously, it doesn't get any easier than that!
As it is the season of giving – I couldn't think of a better thing to do with my new set. It was given to me by Stampin' Up! and I would like to pay it forward. You would make my day, make Robin's day, make a soldier's day – and feel good, too! Oh… and give lots of inspiration for your stampin sisters. I know how much you all enjoyed the galleries from the card drive, so thought you would like to see what others make again.
SO… in this season of giving, will you help out? Make a card, post it on your blog/social media site, send me the link and send me the card?
Any questions? leave me a comment and I will answer them.
Id be very honored if you would help out in this one time challenge.
hugs
Jaydee

Oh, I LOVE this!!!!!! What a wonderful way to inspire us to do something kind and meaningful. I shall be thinking of one of your cards to CASE…although, I can already tell you I’m leaning towards one of those sunny Medallion ones. ;o)
Fantastic! There are angels everywhere, aren’t there?
Hugs to you for being you!
What a wonderful, heart-warming challenge and story. We leave for a trip tomorrow but I may try to make a card tonight. Thank you for doing this, Jaydee.
I love that you are doing this. You’ve inspired me to actually stamp at 2a.m. this morning. Here’s a link to my blog post with a photo of my CASE: http://berkerblog.blogspot.com/2010/12/i-challenge-you.html
Email me your address and I’ll get this in the mail to you for a soldier. Thanks again, Jaydee. I hope you get lots of participants.
You inspire so many people in so many ways. I love how you encourage others to be step outside their comfort zones and bring happiness to so many. Thanks for all you do!
Count me in Jaydee. You are amazingly thoughtful, kind and generous, I’m blessed to call you my friend!
This is so you, Jaydee, to do something so inspired as this occassion. Thank you for showing us your kindness and generosity. All of your cards are so unique and it’s hard to just pick out one. So instead, I have decided to pick out a color to CASE. YEP, you guess it, it’s cherry cobbler. And this card says it all,
