Aaaaaaarggggggggg, My Matey!

Hi Everyone.  Happy Thursday night.

Tonight's card is one that I made for the OWH card drive.  Before I show you tonight's card though, let's review the current Holiday card drive that we have going on.

Here's a recap:

Now, many of you asked about our next card drive.  I'm thinking its
a good idea to do a Christmas card drive.  Closing date for submission
of the Christmas cards is October 30…. So….. THE NEXT CARD DRIVE FOR OWH WILL RUN FROM NOW UNTIL THE END OF SEPTEMBER
The theme:  Holidays….. Christmas cards with a religious theme,
secular holiday cards, holiday cards in Spanish, Kwanzaa and Hannukah.
Any and all of the above will be very welcome.  Actually, I can't wait
to try my hand at some different holiday cards to recognize those who
serve and the fact that they are of many religions and ethnic
backgrounds.  I actually look forward to making some Kwanzaa and
Hannukah cards.  Chanuka/Hannukah runs early this year, if often
coincides with the Christian Christmas timeframe, but is actually early
December.  Kwanzaa is on December 26.

So,

  • anyone sending 10 holiday cards, with envelopes, for the troops
will be entered into the drawing for the Jaydeestamping give away.
  • Only two prizes will be drawn this time.  A $100 first prize and a
$50 second prize.  Money to spend with moi on Stampin' Up! goodies.
Think of all the great things you could get from the 2010/2011 Idea
Book and Catalog or Holiday Mini.
  • For every 10 cards and envelopes you send, you will get one entry into the drawing.
  • REMEMBER…… NO GLITTER!!!!  I spent an hour on
Sunday trying to clean glitter off cards, my table, and me.  If one
card has glitter on it and it is in the pack that you send, the entire
card set is compromised.  Glitter is exceptionally dangerous to the
troops as it is incredibly reflective and can be fatal.  So, please, no
glitter.  If you really want to use glitter, then encase the item that
you have glittered in Crystal Effects.  It works really well, it still
keeps the glitteriness and manages to contain the glitter to where it
    doesn't come off.

Now… on to tonight's card….. I actually bought sets to use for OWH that I would never normally have bought.  But I kept thinking about all those troops who have children and was inspired by y'alls children's cards, that I actually bought some sets especially for this purpose.

Here's my Beware Pirates card:

Pirates
and of course, you can't do a Pirate card without doing the inside, right?

Pirates (1)

I had great fun making this card and was really lucky that some of the clearance rack DSP that I bought actually had this fabulous DSP in it!  Perfect1=!

BTW….. I am planning to look at video cameras this weekend to see if I can make a video on the bow that you all liked in this post.   I tried doing it with my camera… errr… no go!

On a personal note…. I have spent 20 hours out of the last two days on conference calls.  I swear, I don't want to hear the phone ring for an entire day!   I love people… but sitting on conf calls all day … well, all it does is make my backside bigger!

So, you will forgive me for the quick post tonight.  I am now off to cook myself some dinner.

Prayers for Trish, Germaine, John and Sue, T, Pri, Arthur.

Thank you all for spending time in my little area of the stamping blogosphere.  Your visits, your support and your comments are much appreciated.

Hugs

Jaydee

I continue to pray for you and Trish and all my cyber friends! Jaydee’s blog is a wonderful and caring site! It feels like we are all family here! I truly think of all of you daily!

  4. What an arrrdorable card! My daycare kiddo’s LOVE pirates, seldom does a day go by without someone telling a pirate joke. The punch line always involves aaaarrrrgghh! 🙂 I can’t wait to see what else you create with this fun set.
Missy, you are so right about Jaydee’s blog and the closeness of her readers. I truely enjoy the little snippits of everyone’s lives and think often, how fun it would be to all get together with a cup of coffee or a glass of wine. But, alas, I’ll sit here with my cuppa and pretend the rest of you are doing the same!
Have a fantastic day one & all! Warm thoughts and prayers to all in need, especially Germaine and Trish–keep believing in miracles!

  5. Great card-kids cards are fun to do! I love the inside too!
I hope you have a nice quiet weekend with lots of stampin time!

  6. Cute card! In one of my past jobs, I had a lot of calls and so got one of those big balance balls to sit at – “believing” that it would assist with “strengthening my core” and “tightening up the abs” – until one day I was on a call and lost my balance and fell off the ball, pulling the phone off my desk … at least the other particpants had a chuckle, at my expense. After that, decided to go to a wireless headset and then I could at least walk around …
P.S. thanks for explaining the glitter prohibition – now that had never occurred to me!
have a great week end all!
