Hi Everyone. Happy Tuesday night.
Couldn't resist the play on words tonight….:-)
Quick edit…I noticed new colors of card stock in the clearance rack…. Here's what is there right now…..Almost Amethyst, Bordering Blue, Brilliant Blue, Brocade Blue, Cameo Coral, Creamy Caramel, Green Galore, Lavendar Lace, Mellow Moss, Pale Plum, Pink Passion, Pixie Pink, Really Rust, Summer Sun, Yoyo Yellow – all 2.49 preferred pricing.
Tonight's card highlights "Deck the Halls" DSP and ribbon bows.
I used the fabulous sketch from Sweetsunday sketch challenge.
I really do find that circles on a square card challenge me.. consequently, I force myself to do them when I can.
I found that the elements on the side challenged me, too. So, I really had to think about what I wanted to do. I decided to make the DSP the major feature of the card. I love the new Deck the Halls DSP – available tomorrow. Oh. Yeah! The new Mini goes live tomorrow! I also wanted to try a new way of using the Cherry Cobbler Seam ribbon that is available in the new mini, too.
Here's what I came up with
Now you can see why this color is called Cherry Cobbler. It really is a gorgeous, rich, luscious, yummy red. Mixed with the Always Artichoke it is fabulous.
I have to tell you that I was really tempted to bling up this card with some red rhinestones in place of some of the berries on the holly. I REALLY had to refrain myself!
You can see that I changed around the three flowery elements just a little bit…. I created one big ribbon bow (yep…. doesn't that look like the sort of thing you get on your parcels!!!). Very simple to do. Really simple, in fact – and I think its perfect for Christmas or Birthday cards. Let me know if you want to know how to do it – if enough of you leave a comment saying you would like a tutorial, then I will create one for you.
I'm not sure if it is my eyes – or my camera… but these days… something isn't looking quite right… I keep getting blurry bits. I think I might need to get out the manual.
UPDATE: After I posted this card, many of you asked me to show you how I made the bow. Well….. I completed my first video! aaaargh! scary! Seriously! Lou also tells me that I have spent too many years presenting in Corporate America – and listening to the video, he's right! I promise, I will try not to make my future videos so formal… oh yeah… and I promise you that I will learn to tell the time! If you listen to the video, you will understand that reference.
Anyway, if you want to know how to make the bow – all you need to do is go along to this link and see my first ever video. There are so many things wrong with the video, but I hope you will bear with me, cos this is a huge learning curve. I've never owned a video camera. I've never taken videos on vacation. I've never taken videos on my cellphone. So… novice I am… with a very polluted English accent! BTW….. The video says cut the ribbon to 4"…. however, my original bow on this card was cut to 3 3/4. That's why the bow on this card looks a little tighter – and I think better.
Card recipe – all supplies Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted:
- Card stock: Cherry Cobbler, Whisper White
- Designer Series Paper: Deck the Halls
- Ink: Early Espresso
- Sentiment: Signature Christmas (Papertrey)
- Accessories: Rich Regals buttons; Gold Elastic cord, Cherry Cobbler and Always Artichoke seam binding ribbon
- Tools: Nestabilities circles, scallop border punch, mini glue dots to adhere buttons
On a personal note: the landscaper was here again tonight, with the electrician. MAYBE… sometime, we will get this deck project finished and I can show you some pics! I really can't wait to get it finished.
Some of you may have visited Rach's site a week ago to look at the Simon's cat video. I have another one for you….Snow Business. I think you will enjoy it!
As always … prayers for Trish, Germaine, Arthur, T, Pri, John and Sue.
Thank you for visiting my little area of the stamping blogosphere. Have a fabulous Wednesday
Hugs
Jaydee

Beautiful card! I love the cherry cobbler-can hardly wait to use some. I would like a tutorial on the ribbon bow. Also would like to know how to make the flower on your “Baja Wedding” card.
The hardest part of a remodel is the patience it takes for completion! You’ll enjoy it soon.
This is one gorgeous card! Love the bow flower! Wow!
Love, love, love the bow! Rich, yummy colors, too! Just an all-around gorgeous card!
I love this card! How did you do the bow-flower? Please tell…
Meg
Absolutely Beautiful Jaydee! I love that bow flower and would love to see you make it or a tutorial!
Prayers to all in need! Trish & Germaine-hope you both are doing better!
Hope everyone has a wonderful rest of the week!
Of course we want a tutorial on the bow! This is such an elegant Christmas card. Love it!
I’m IN LOVE with Cherry Cobbler. What an amazingly rich color. It really makes your card! And, of COURSE we want that tutorial! ;o)
As a cat lover, I just knew you would love Simon’s Cat. Hee hee! Lil sits next to me and simply cackles as she watches them–it doesn’t matter she’s seen them 50 times each. ;o)
I can’t wait to see your finished deck!
HUGS!
I love the card! And of course, like everyone else, would love to have a tutorial on bow tying. For all of your bows. They are always so perfect! I keep trying to create a bow as perfect as yours, but they always disappoint me. You truly have a special gift!
Jaydee,
Love the card and love Cherry Cobbler
Beautiful card Jaydee, I LOVE LOVE LOVE the rich colors, they give the card a warm and homey feel.
Could you please remind me when the Christmas cards for the card drive are due? With both of my kiddos back in school I should be able to find a bit more time to get them done.
Can’t wait to see the finished deck, it was amazing the last time I saw it, can’t wait to see it all “decked” out. (tee hee, you can blame Brenda for that bit of wit, she suggested a new 1/2 training program that has my endorphins bouncing everywhich way!)
Have a Happy Hump Day One & All! And to my cyber friends in needs, loving thoughts and prayers.
Super card!!!!! I LOVE that bow….WOW! So pretty.
Lynn
