Monochromatic Inspiration

Hi Everyone.  Happy Friday night.   Oh!  YES!  It's Friday – and I got to spend a couple of hours in my stamping space!

Tonight's card is another card using the clean and simple fall to layout that I have used a couple of times this week.  The card was created for the Stampin Royalty challenge.  The challenge is to create a monochromatic card using only neutrals.  Wow…  Love that theme – and felt that I had the perfect sentiment and stamp for a monochromatic neutral card!  Don't forget to click on the link and check out the fabulous inspiration and design team cards.  In fact, go visit with our dear friend Lesley (Always playing with paper).  Lesley is the guest designer across at Stampin' Royalty this week!  Congrats, Lesley.  Very well deserved honor!

I love the sentiment of this card.  It is so true… that spiritually many people know the way…. but many never walk it!

Monochromatic

You can see that I created interest in the card playing with textures and patterns.  Additionally, I used the Smooch Pearlized Top Coat to color the robe of the statue and it still keeps within the monochromatic look.

I love the textured Early Espresso that plays off the striped Neutrals DSP and then is echoed again in the textured Crumb Cake.  The soft, rich element of the Satin ribbon, echoes the sheen of the paint on the robe.  I have to tell you… in all honesty…. when you play with some non-SU stamps, you realize just how great SU stamps are.  This one took a while to ink up and stamp evenly.

On a personal note:

Prince Pipsqueak decided to chase Bailey this afternoon.  They ran from my study, through the dining room into the laundry.   There was an almighty THUMP…. yep!  one of them had run head first into the dryer!  Mmm…mmmmm…. smart cats we have!!!!  My guess is that it was Bailey.  Bailey has REALLY hairy feet and consequently he cannot get a grip on smooth surfaces.  Attitude re-adjustment continues with Prince Pipsqueak (aka PP).  It's certainly going to take a while!

My DH is getting ready to leave town again this weekend and is headed for Buenos Aires.  He also let me know tonight that he is off to Paris and Moscow.   Mmmm… not sure about him going on his own to those two amazing places.   I haven't been back to Moscow since just after the fall of communism (I was there in 1991).  It was one of the most amazing trips I have ever had anywhere.   I remember that we went to see the St Petersburg Ballet perform The Nutcracker at the Kremlin.  The costumes were designed by I believe, YSL – some amazing French designer.  It was the most amazing production and then…. when we came out of the Kremlin snowflakes were falling over St Basil's Cathedral.   WOW!!!  Mind blowing.  I can close my eyes and see it and remember the feeling knowing that you had just seen a production with amazing… absolutely amazing performances.    the other thing I remember…. mmmm… not too much Vegetarian food…. Cabbage boiled.  Cabbage fried.  Cabbage steamed.  Cabbage fried with potatoes.   errr…. get the idea!

Continued prayers tonight for Trish, Germaine, T, Pri, Arthur, Angela, John and Sue.  Missy, I hope that your family is finally finding some closure after two such close deaths.

As always – thank you so much for spending time in my little area of the stamping blogosphere.  Your visits, your support and your comments are greatly appreciated.

Have a fabulous Saturday!

Hugs

Jayde

OHHHHHHH>>>> BTW>>>>>>> check the SU clearance rack.  They have some of the old colors of card stock on sale – really good value.  For those of you who use black – they also have the old configurations of basic black – 40 sheets!  You need to go check it out.

  1. Wonderful card…so serene! I enjoyed hearing about your trip to Moscow. You paint such wonderful pictures with your words. I feel as if I were with you watching the snowflakes fall!

  2. Gorgeous card Jaydee! Thank you for sharing your trip to Moscow with us! I agree with Ann!
Thank you Jaydee for your sweet comment! We are doing better! Mom is keeping busy packing to get ready to move into their new home! In the middle of our family crisis they were buying a new home and trying to get the house in the country ready to sell! So, thankfully she has something to keep her busy and not solely concentrating on her sister’s death! Thank you ALL for your thoughts & prayers that you have sent me! I truly believe in prayer and I truly believe it has helped! So thank you ALL! I haven’t gotten to visit and leave comments like I usually do due to the fact of helping my family during this hard time! However, I do try to visit during the week! Maybe things will settle down some as time goes by! Trish & Germaine- still praying for you both and all my cyber friends as well! Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!
