Hi Everyone.
Happy Saturday night. The challenge at the Paper Players this week is – anything goes. So, literally – a 3D project, a scrapbook page, a card – whatever it is that you are drawn to create this week, we'd love to see you post it to the challenge blog. We do hope that you will join us this week.
For me…. I used the Stamping411 sketch – it was such a cool sketch, that I decided to combine it with our Paper Player challenge this week. I loved the idea of an oval on the horizontal.
It also gave me an opportunity to pull out the new Deck the Halls DSP (available in the holiday mini, which goes live on September 1) and one of my favorite Christmas sets.
I also borrowed a trick from Rach. She used two ribbons layered together and I have been waiting for an opportunity to do that. So thank you Rach.
I actually used my Smooch to color the dove….. It was really tough to get a pic – so here's a close up for you. It is really beautiful up close. You can also see how I treated the eye of the dove and the berries on the stamp. I colored them with my Cherry Cobbler marker and then out a tiny blog of Crystal Effects on them. It really helped to make the bird the focal point and tie the berries into the dove, as well as the background DSP.
I love the vintage – yet clean and simple feel of this card.
Card recipe:
- Card stock: Cherry Cobbler, Always Artichoke, Very Vanilla
- DSP: Deck the Halls
- Accessories: Regals Buttons, Always Artichoke, Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding ribbon (new with the Holiday Catalog), Gold Elastic cord, Smooch Pearlized Accent Ink (love this stuff!!!)
- Tools: Dimensionals – all layers are popped! Nestabilities: Oval and scalloped oval
This card only requires cutting and assembling. The "hardest" part about it was putting the little dabs of Crystal Effects on the berries and the eye and painting the bird. Neither of those tasks was at all hard!. So, this is definitely a card that you can whip up in a relatively short amount of time, but looks wonderful when you have it in hand.
Don't forget to check out what the other design team members have created for you this week. You will love them!

On a personal note: Lou leaves tomorrow for South America and doesn't get back until the middle of next weekend. Consequently, we decided to take a break and go have dinner at our favorite restaurant this evening. Hence… I missed feedburner sending out my post!
Update on Prince Pipsqueak (aka Charlie our stray kitten). We had forgotten what it is like to have a kitten in the house…. Ann…. get ready for bringing home your new puppy! Everything is new, exciting, scary, and all together just too much fun. He has spent the last week being hyper-stimulated, but seems to be settling down a little. Today he discovered the squirrel at the feeder, right outside his window perch! Oh! and he also discovered water running out of the faucet. That was the funniest. He jumped onto the bathroom counter top whilst I was washing my hands this morning… honestly…. you can believe he had never seen where water came from. He put his head under the tap… yep… whilst it was running… mmm…mmmm… you can imagine that he was none too pleased about that!
As always, continued prayers for Trish, Germaine, Arthur, T, Pri, John and Sue.
I hope you all have a fabulous Sunday and, as always, thank you so much for your visit, your support and your comments. They are always very much appreciated.
Hugs
Jaydee
