Hi Everyone. Happy Thursday night.
Tonight's card is a departure for me, in many ways! I did get the chance to make one card tonight…. think my mojo flowed a little – but you will have to tell me that later this week.
I used the Teddy and Train set. It's a fabulous set for a new baby or even birthdays. For some reason, I have only inked it up once. However, I saw this amazing layout on justusgirls this past weekend and thought…. ah….. I have just (excuse the pun!) set for this. It really is a super cool layout and I decided the train was the perfect backdrop for the teddy.
I have a special treat for you coming up on Sunday…. well… I think it's a special treat anyway… a card and a 3D project – in honor of my mother. Mom loved butterflies and she loved Tulips. So I combined both things together. Nope.. you aren't even getting a sneak peek. You will just have to come back on Sunday to take a look. I actually had tremendous fun making the 3D project and I was very happy with the way the card turned out. 🙂
The sketch allowed me to play with a couple of my toys. My Circle Scissors plus, my embossing folders, my water color crayons and Crystal Effects. and…. look…… NO PEARLS. nope… not one.. nothing hidden… nothing under the bow.. nothing :-) But… I had to use a blue button. That's OK, though, right?!!!…..but….. mmmmm… grrrr… I put the Crystal Effects on him and then put my ribbon holder on top! consequently, the CE is a little wonky on his one paw pad
I used all of the elements on the sketch, the only difference was that I made the central horizontal stripe the ribbon. I got this great ribbon on the clearance rack at SU.
Card recipe
Card stock:
Bashful Blue, Night of Navy, Whisper White
Stamp Set:
Teddy and Train (115219)
Inks:
Night of Navy, Basic Grey (crayon) Brilliant Blue (marker), Basic Grey (marker)
Embellishments:
Light Blue gingham ribbon, Brilliant Blue button, linen thread (for the button)
Tools:
Big Shot, Polka Dot Embossing Folder (117335), Lattice Folder (119976), Dimensionals, Crystal Effects, Circle Scissors Plus
The card is an A2 size. Layer 1 (Bashful Blue) is 4 1/8thW x 5 1/4"H
The Night of Navy circle is 3 1/8" and was run through my Big Shot with the square lattice embossing folder.
The Bashful Blue circle is 2 3/4" and was run through my Big Shot with the polka dot embossing folder
The horizontal layers are: Night of Navy 1 1/4"H x 4 1/4"W. The Bashful Blue layers are 1"H x 4 1/4"W. I used my stamp-a-ma-jig to place the trains on the Bashful Blue card stock. To get the coverage I wanted with the trains, I stamped them twice for each layer and then cut to size. Using my stamp-a-ma-jig I was able to get them pretty much lined up.
I adhered the Bashful Blue layer to the card base using snail. I then laid the two horizontal pieces containing the trains down and glued them with snail.
The next step was to run the ribbon around the card, between the two horizontal layers. Next step was to adhere the Night of Navy and Bashful Blue circles. Both were adhered using snail.
Then I set to work on my Teddy Bearl. I colored him with Basic Gray water color crayons and went over the areas where it would be a little darker. Once Teddy was dry, I took my Going Grey marker and colored his pads. I used my Brilliant Blue marker – very gently, to color the ribbon. Then came the Crystal Effects. I put one dot of Crystal Effects on each eye, on the ribbon and on each of his pads and left it to dry.
Once the CE was dry, I cut around Teddy and adhered him to the circles using dimensionals.
For the button. I tied the ribbon – with the bow going vertically and then placed a piece of linen thread through my needle and sewed the button into place using the ribbon as the base. Just two stitches and I was done.
I was really inspired by the great sketch at justusgirls. There are some fabulous inspiration cards from the design team and those who submitted. Go along and check them out.
Of course, you could make this card in Yellow (the new Daffodil Delight would be perfect), green, pink.. any color you think is appropriate for baby.
Today was really cold here. It was down in the 40s and there is a rain/snow storm to the north and west of us. I was really upset today to find a dead bird on the deck. In all the years that we have been in the house, we have only had two birds hit the window and die. He must have been going pretty fast, and I wasn't able to save him. You really should have seen me out there, cradling it, willing it to live! The last time I did it was in the middle of winter with a flock of about 150 visting Redpolls. They never come this far South in Mn. but last year the weather was so bad that they did. One of them hit the window and I rushed out in below zero temperatures trying to keep it warm so that it would recover. It did… but it took me hours to get warm again!
Good job the neighbors don't see me, they would think I was an absolute kook. Well, actually I think they do anyway!
Tomorrow is Friday….. OH YEAH!!!! I can't wait. I'm desperate to start spring cleaning, but will wait until Lou and I have 10 days vacation at the end of the month. But, I'm really itching to start. This weekend, though, I want to do some stamping. 🙂
I hope you all have a fabulous Friday! As always, thank you so much for visiting my little area of the stamping blogosphere. Your visits and your support, are always much appreciated.
Hugs
Jaydee

What a cutie! Nice job with the sketch and thanks so much for playing along with JUGS.
SO cute! I may have to ATTEMPT to CASE this one! I also have the set. Your’s is just adorable.
Hi Jaydee – I’ve been delighted every day with your postings, and thought it about time to tell you that.
Your occasional idioms suggest that you’ve had some British influence? They’re expressions my husband’s family use, and they always make me smile.
Now, I must not have read the post where you told us how you colour all of your pearls? I’ve been wondering that for days now.
Just to share the pain – it snowed up here in Edmonton, Alberta this week too, after we had a week of 75 degree weather in April, and the buds all started coming out. Oh well, we’re thankful for the moisture, in whatever form.
Thanks so much for all that you share. I love your gracious style.
Awe – such an adorable baby boy card! That teddy bear image is so cute 🙂 Great take on this week’s sketch challenge – thanks for playing along with Just Us Girls 🙂
Absolutely an adorable baby card. Going to have to dig out my scissor circle cutter and give this one a try. (Love the dots!)
Hi Jaydee, you took such a detour today from your usual type of cards. I am really enjoying the refreshing change in scenery. What an absolutely Adorable Card just waiting for that Special Baby Boy to come along. I loved this set the first time I saw it, but sadly to say, still do not own it. I guess that I had best hurry up and get it. The Crystal Effects on the Pads, Eyes, and Ribbon looks really cool, I wouldn’t have thought to do that. I am learning so very many neat and new Tricks from you and your Blogging. Thank you for that. I really like the variations between the straight lines and the circles, makes for a very interesting look. You have done a lot of work on this Card, Stamping, using your Embossing Folders, Circle Sissors Plus, Big Shot, Cutting by hand, Ribbon tying and Button sewing. It must have taken quite a while to make up. I think that I counted 7 layers, way to go, girl! Another fantastic Creation, shared by you, today. I love it!
Cyber hugs, Trish in Wisconsin
Oh yes, you have some mojo going on! Nice!!
This layout is great! I need a baby card for a shower, but it is baby girl. I can use the teddy bear, but will have to look to see what I can substitute for the trains. Love the card! Thanks for the inspiration!
I have to say, this is another great card. I find my layouts are typically the same. I’m going to have to expand my repertoire a bit.;oP
I’m sorry about the cruddy weather and the bird. That is so awful. :o( We have a gazebo as part of our deck, and the birds reuse a nest in the cupola. We have our outside dining set up in the gazebo and last year, we found a dead baby bird on the table. It was terrible.
Trish, you always leave the BEST comments. Do you have a background in art? You are SO good at pointing out the good points, what you like, etc.
What an adorable card! I love this sketch! It is so cute! It does seem like you put a lot of time in this card! But those are the kinds that are so special! Whoever gets this card is a very special little one! Thanks for sharing your awesome creations everyday!
