Spring Song

Hi Everyone

Happy Friday night.  I finally managed to get into my stamping space this evening.   YAY!!!!  So, I did one card to fit two challenges…. a new challenge for me… the Lordhavemercy sketch challenge – which was a square card… not often I do a square card!  and then I mixed it with the palspaperarts inspiration challenge, which used birds.  I don't know where the ppa team got their gorgeous inspiration photos from… but I'd love to visit that site!

Anyway, I decided to use my Spring Song set, which is one of the sets Lou bought me with my water color crayons.  In fact… it's one of the sets that is a FREE choices with SAB this year (120230 if you are choosing it as an SAB set).  Well,  I loved the layout of the sketch challenge – and loved the inspiration, so, here's my card.

I decided to make it a Mother's Day card.  I colored the bird and the flower with markers and with crayons.  Before anyone asks…. this is an Anas hummingbird…. the first hummers we lived with and fed in California. We adored our hummers and were sad to leave them.  The Anas tend to have a more purpley looking color than the bright red ruby throated we have here in Minnesota.  I made it a little more purple to make it stand out from the paper.  The one thing I hadn't realized when I went to look for photos of the Ana's is how many colors they have from brown on their back and wings, the gorgeous greens, the whitey-grey under their outer wings…. amazing.

I used Rich Razzleberry for the background card stock and used the gorgeous…. and I mean … gorgeous paper from hostess set "Lovely Flowers" pack.

I colored the bird and the flowers and then trimmed them with my paper snips and placed them onto a circle if Naturals White card stock.  My arthritic fingers certainly felt the snipping 🙂

The background circle is cut from Rose Red and I used my scallop circle die to cut it out.

I stamped the "Wonderful Mother" from Well Scripted in Rich Razzleberry directly onto the Naturals White circle.

I popped the cut out hummer and flowers onto stampin dimensionals and placed on the Naturals White, over the sentiment.

A little Rich Razzleberry ribbon, turned around, and some half pearls finished off the card.

I'll be back later to give you the recipe details.  I wanted to make sure this post made my feed!

Have a wonderful Saturday everyone.

Hugs

Jaydee

  1. Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. Another set that I have wanted, but have not gotten yet. Go ahead, twist my arm, lol. You’re coloring is gorgeous, to say the least. I do like that you popped both the bird and the flowers up on dimensionals, makes for a really cool looking card. You know something, you really have an eye for color, well all except for the orange card! hee, hee. I am amazed at how you put your cardstock and paper colors together. Sometimes nothing I would have ever done and yet you always bowl me over! I can never get over it. You are very good at it. Another card, very well done and just beautiful. If I were the Mother receiving it, I would have to cry. Really! You have yourself a wonderful Saturday also.

  2. Oh My Goodness! I think this is the PRETTIEST card I have ever seen! It just took my breath away when I first saw it! I think it is so BEAUTIFUL! It looks so real to me! And I love those colors! This is a stamp set that I don’t have yet but have always wanted! I do have the Dream A Little stamp set that has the hummingbird but don’t know if it is the same kind. Isn’t this stamp set one of the freebies? I think it is! Anyway, thank you Jaydee for creating the most beautiful card! It is so refreshing to wake up every morning and to see a beautiful masterpiece that you have created! You never cease to amaze me! Just like Trish said I think it would make me cry if I got this card! (A good cry!)

  3. What a beautiful card! I love the colors, the pearls and the ribbon. Yes, that cutting is a pain, but the results are worth it!
    Enjoy your weekend!

  4. Beautiful card Jaydee! The little hummer looks just like the little stinker that used to tease my brain injured cat Juano when I lived in a tiny California Bungelow in Santa Barbara, CA. The hummer would hover in the air about 2 inches or less from Juano’s nose with a Nah, nah, nah, nah thing going on. Then when Juano couldn’t stand it anymore and would lunge for the bird the hummer would zip straight up a few feet out of range wait and then start the game all over again. Poor Juano never could catch the cheeky little bugger and it was the same bird that came back over and over again repeatedly for months on end. Poor Juano was so slow off the mark it was agonizing to watch. Not that I wanted the hummer to get caught but gee whiz teasing a disabled cat??!
Juano is long gone but the memories are still fresh as your lovely card. Thanks for the trip down memory lane and the reminder that Spring is coming.

  5. Nothing like being a year & 7 moths late, but just ran across you Blog w/this card. Lv the Humming bird w/trumpet flowers. This was before my Stampin’ up days so didn’t know anything about this stamp. I am trying to locate it. I have a handicap daughter that I bring to Colorado every year(cooler) and she loves to watch the hummingbirds at the feeder. Again your card is beautiful and enjoyed seeing it. (Don’t know if you will see this post.) Subscribed to your blog.
