Noel – Big on Christmas

Hi Everyone.  It's the weekend!  YAY!  I have lots of work from my day job to do this weekend, but I really NEED to get down to my stamping space!

Today's card features the SU Big on Christmas  set.  I love the simple lines of this set and decided to use Real Red and Old Olive as the feature colors.  Of course…. you know what's coming….. yes….. I couldn't stop myself and had to use a little shimmer paint.  I swear, I've had way too much fun with the shimmer paints this year.

So, of course, I couldn't just leave it at using the shimmer paints – I had to get out my Big Shot.  When I bought my Big Shot I was really unsure whether I would use it that much.  However, I love how easy it is to use; I love the background texturz plates, which are not only economical, but provide a lot of texture and interest and lastly, I love the versatility.

Card recipe:

  • Real Red and Old Olive card stock.  focal image was stamped on Whisper White card stock.
  • I used my markers…… yep, I thought about you Kelli 🙂 to ink up my stamp.   I love using the markers to stamp up my images.
  • I ran the Old Olive card stock through my Big Shot with my texturz kit # 4
  • I used my ticket corner punch on each of the corners of my central image.  I punched a hole in each corner and fed through a circle rhinestone brad.
  • I then took my shimmer paint and painted in the words and the top of my ornament with the Frost White Shimmer Paint
  • I then took a dauber and gently rubbed over the embossed image on the Old Olive card stock to pick up the light and to highlight the embossed image
  • I mounted of the layers – for the last two layers I used the Stampin Dimensionals.
  • I then threaded a piece of the red and white gingham ribbon around the card and under the focal point.

I love the colors – and I loved being able to use my shimmer paint and… I have to admit…. my bow tying is getting better!  Practice makes perfect, or so my mother told me!  Mind you, it doesn't matter how many times I practice at dieting – I'm not getting any better at that! 🙂

We woke up this morning to a very foggy morning and it was cold.  the sort of cold that gets into your bones.  So, I'm updating my blog sitting in front of the fire with a hot cup of tea.  Man, it feels like I'm in England.  No…. hang on there's something different… oh yes!  I can see daylight.  I swear my memories of England at this time of year are fog, cold and very little daylight!

Because I'm sitting upstairs instead of in my stamping space, I can see the Chickadee rushing backwards and forwards to the feeder outside of the window in our family room and the deer at the feeder at the back of the garden.  Otherwise the garden is fairly quiet today.  The grass is still green though, which is amazing.

I hope you all have a fabulous Saturday.  As always, thank you for visiting my little area of the stamping blogosphere.  Your visits, your comments, and your support, are very much appreciated.

Peace

Jaydee

  1. I love the touch of the shimmer paint. The markers are definitely something I will be getting soon. I saw someone stamp a cute tree using the markers. So great! I hope it gets warmer for you soon. It’s pretty cold here, but it was sunny and that makes all the difference to me.
