Hi Everyone!
Today's card was created after I saw the layout on Stamping411 – it's the Saturday Sketch Challenge 101. I think it's a fabulous layout and is likely to become one of my fall to layouts! I used Stampin U's Simple Friendship set.
Card Content:
The stamp is the butterfly stamp from the Simple Friendship (113997) set. It's one of my favorite stamps and you will see it make an appearance several times during the next couple of weeks. Card stock: I used the new in colors for the card (Bermuda Bay) and Melon Mambo for the matt. (115315 for the in color card stock pack.) I LURV the new in colors and I promise you will be seeing lots of them. :-)
Ribbon: The fabulous Rich Razzleberry polka dot ribbon (115613). (For this card, I decided to tie the bow so that the dots showed on all parts of the ribbon.) The image was stamped on Whisper White card stock(100730) and WW was also used to back the Melon Mambo. I mounted the butterfly with Stampin' Dimensionals (104430). Sentiment: The sentiment is from the Short and Sweet (115060) greetings set.
Jaydee tip: To give greater dimensionality to a stamped image, you can use the "Rock and Roll" technique. It's a really simple technique. The image was stamped in Melon Mambo Ink and, before placing the image on the paper, I very gently placed the left hand side of the stamp on a Rich Razzleberry ink pad and slowly – and gently – rolled the outside of the stamp in a circle on the Rich Razzleberry pad. The key is to place the bottom corner very lightly on the pad and slowly rolling just the outside edges in a circular motion. This enables you to determine how broad you want the border of the second color to be. Using two complementary colors helps to bring elements together. In this case, those two elements are the Melon Mambo paper and the Rich Razzleberry riboon.
On the personal front: Another glorious day here. The weather hasn't been too warm nor too humid. Our garden was visited by a Cooper's Hawk who quickly found himself mobbed by 7 blue jays. This time he decided it wasn't worth sticking around. I think he realized, that once he had been spotted and lost the element of surprise, lunch wasn't going to be served up from our garden!
Now… I'm off back to my stampin' spot, I have some new stamps to go play with 🙂
Happy Stampin'
Jaydee
P.S. I noticed that I was having a little trouble with saturation and the Bermuda Bay looks more turquoise in the pic.
